I originally had the blemish as well as a dark bluish band across the top on a device from September 2015, it was exchanged two weeks ago because the display became very dim, and a display replacement did not resolve the issue. The new one I received had a gorgeous display, no blemish, crisp bright white, unfortunately Siri was not working correctly on that device even after restore and setting up as new, they couldnt figure out if it was a single component to replace so they gave me a new phone again, now this one doesnt have a blemish but the screen is slightly dingier looking, just not as crisp as the previous phone. Also the first device was TSMC, the second was Samsung and the third was TSMC.

I busted the screen on mine, so I took it to the genius bar to get replaced. When I looked at the new display the next day, I noticed the blemish is still there. Do they just replace the glass for a broken screen, I was under the assumption that the whole display assembly would be replaced.

They replace the whole display assembly and not just the glass itself. Even then after screen replacement it can still have blemish and the curtain lighting effect on top.

Apple is well aware of what's going on. Most people don't notice. I'm sure they've calculated that economically, its probably far cheaper to swap out phones with unhappy customers than it is to increase QA control.
Yes, this is true. The cost to increase the QA in a mass production chinese plant would cause the cost of the phones to go up too much. Most people don't notice these things.

I'm currently using a note 5
Hardware wise, the Note 5 is the best phone on the market right now at least until the S7 is released.

Would you buy a car with a big dent on the bumper? If apple can't survive with an industrial gross margin of 70% on each prduct sold with a decent quality control should change business. Pretty sure you know that iPhone is made by foxconn and they shuld comply with standard requirements. Other thoughts are only fanatical.
Lots of people disagree with you. And Apple cut you off. Time to find a different product, one that is more suitable to your standards. The Note 5 is great, btw.

Has Apple fixed this yet or just swept it under the rug? I was thinking about trying one last time before my warranty is up.

Good question. But I don't think it was that horrible to begin with. They might not have seen it as a defect but normal variance among LCD screens.

Wait until they switch to AMOLED. Folks around here talk like it's going to be a cure-all for what ails Apple displays. But I can tell you from having four Samsungs in the house in the last month that there's a big variance in hue and overall looks among those screens, too. There are going to be "did you get the pink or the aqua screen?" posts for months.
