There will be massive returns because of...

BEND GATE

bent-nail.jpg

I was one that favored the 4/5 size but ordered a 6. Saw both the 6's at the Apple store today and I can see how someone wanting a big screen will love the 6+. It might replace a tablet for some. It's not huge, just big, with a big screen and a big battery, a big plus. It's more purse/murse-ready than pocket-ready imo. I like something easier to carry. I do wish the 6 was thicker with longer battery time.

There is just if not more people keeping the Plus than returning unless I am totally missing the picture reading through threads.

Experiencing the Plus now today with a purchase and not just playing with in a store, I can see more people holding unto the Plus and massive returns not being the case. One would be making as many concessions keeping the 6.

BTW, it fits in my pocket fine and not worried about bending it or fumbling it when I use it. It is not slippery or too thin as far as I am concerned.

It might get thicker if Apple decides to reinforce it.

Yeah, the 6 is too thin IMO. 6+ too larger. 5S too small. Ugh!

I've been using my 6 plus so much more than my iPad since I got it on launch day. It is a little awkward sometimes, but I live the screen!

I finally got my 6+ and it's not as large as my first impression of it, especially when having it for a few days now.

Stooooooop this the "6+" stuff. It's 6 Plus. This drives me insane how lazy people are. You're literally saving a half a second. Type it correctly. 27" iMac. 3.4 GHz i5. 24 GB RAM. 512 GB SSD - 64 GB iPhone 6 Plus 

Just wanted to add my two cents. I recently ditched my iPhone 6+ (that I got on launch day) for a regular iPhone 6. I ditched it for two reasons: it's too big and yes, it had a slight bend at the device volume buttons. I ended up giving the 6+ to my wife. She was due for an upgrade, liked the bigger screen and didn't mind the slight bend. So.... I gave her the 6+ and i took her upgrade to get the 6.

Much happier now; I don't even miss it. Only thing I do miss: the battery life. But it's not a big deal... I have chargers everywhere.

Ive had my Plus for a couple of weeks

1.One handed is poor. True, but a phablet is a two handed device, I find myself migrating to two handed, thats fine.

2. Too small to be an iPad replacement. True, but its a damn fine mini iPad Mini when out and about

3. Viewing experience is great

4. My only issue is carrying the Plus around, say shopping. I don't put my phone in a pants pocket. Im careful, don't want to forget its there and sit down. Plus is unwieldy to hand carry. Summer here, so not wearing a jacket with roomy pockets. I will probably settle on a folio case, as long as it can sit the phone up, which most do, and as long as the cover doesnt rub on the screen, and as long as I can easily fold the cover right back to lead leave the screen exposed which I prefer.

Agree. Carrying is my only downside so far. But that is resolvable. Case type. I am looking

I'm willing to forgo the inconvenience of kid gloves handling and size with my plus, for all the other benefits that screen real estate and battery life offer. I will never get an iPad because its overkill to carry when I carry a MBA every day. The phone is perfect for impromptu photo and pdf demonstrations for clients. It's great to network with. (physical networking, such as working a room during a gathering).

The bending I understand from having manufactured in different metals. It's physics. Apple pushed the envelope here. Material will react when a lot of it has been removed. Those that make it through are susceptible to being pushed over the edge. A slight bend near a series of buttons makes sense from that area having more material removed than from other areas.

I got a 6 Plus about 4 days ago and just exchanged it for a 6 today. The 6+ was awesome. Awesome in all the ways you'd expect it to be. My biggest issue was where to put it. It's slippery, so it needs a grippy case, so with that comes even more bulk. I don't wear skinny jeans, but even in my loose jean pockets, it's tough to take out while sitting down. So I'd then move it to my shirt pocket, but it obnoxiously sticks out, while also leaning forward, especially when you yourself are leaning forward. I was always shuffling it around. I was taking pictures at a family party last night, and looked around as everyone else was managing their 5/5C/5S without a care or a thought. And here I am fumbling around with this Plus. I thought enough was enough, and hit the Apple Store today to do the swap. The bigger screen was incredible when it was needed, but the size never goes away. Too me, it was an added burden. I'll miss that screen. I'll miss the ever so slightly fuller sounding speaker. I'll really miss that battery life. And maybe I'll miss OIS, but maybe not. All that said, I was thrilled when I walked out of there with the 6 in hand. It just feels like home to me. Everyone's home is going to be different of course, so don't let me discourage anyone from getting a 6 Plus. It just didn't work out for me. The associate in the Apple Store said he did the same thing, started out with a Plus, then switched to the 6.

I agree, but once I find a carrying solution that will resolve it for me

I think I'm the only one who actually thinks it works better in my front jeans pocket. Because it's bigger I notice it more so I'm never worried about if I forgot it. It also feels nice and snug and secure. And lastly it's easier to actually slip in and out of my pocket. Probably more due to the curves and thinness there though.

They should have released a 5 or 5.1" version without all the silly Bezel.
And integrated the home button as one of the 4 icons on the bottom row.

Who cares if it'd be less usable as long as there's less bezel, right?

How is this thread not dead yet? OP keep bumping it?

Your damed for posting on an older thread and your damed to start a new thread that's already been open for discussion. (So my thought was  why not repost on a prior thread rather start a new one - damned once more).

i really do like my 6+.

I haven't found carrying to be an issue. It depends on what I am wearing: If i have a jacket, it goes into the inner breast pocket just fine. If I do not have a jacket, I put it in my back pocket and take it out before I sit down and place it on table, desk, etc.

I've never understood those that put a phone in the back pocket, just seems to me that screams 'break me'! :)

Being an old geezer who wears mostly full cut khakis, I just put it in my front pocket even with the grippy case I have on it and find that works just fine.

I'm loving this 6+, nice big screen so I don't often need the reading glasses to use it. Nice complement to my iPad Air 2 and MBPr doesn't hurt either!

I'm not sure what you're trying to imply with the "being an old geezer" comment but myself being a young geezer haha never understood the phone in the back pocket thing either. Especially living in NYC and being paranoid of it just being snatched out of the pocket or just sitting on it and breaking it.

It only screams that if you sit on it. I am not an idiot and I take it out before sitting down...it isn't that hard.

Now, people who keep their phone in the back pocket and sit on it are just asking for disaster.

or just sitting on it and breaking it.

Then don't sit on it. I mean it's not like you can't control not sitting on your phone. Don't sit on it. It's that simple.

I can see a market for both devices. It really comes down to personal preference. I'll admit, I wanted the 6+, but after heavy usage for a day and half I realized it just was not for me. I didn't notice how much I use my phone one-handed until I got the 6+. Its a great phone in every sense IF the screen size is what you want/need. Didn't mesh well with my regular iPhone habits and so I picked up a 6 instead. I think both phones are great and will make people very happy.

Isn't it kinda tough? Making a day and a ½ of 'heavy usage' to make a decision? I've had mine since November 3. A month and a ½ in and I've NEVER enjoyed a 'phone' more. Man, jeans and slacks, shorts and jackets. Doesn't matter. Always a place TL put it, and I've actually 'mastered' one handed usage now. With your inner forefinger, you're easily able to balance it on its CG and reach each corner. Pretty sweet.

For me, the full thirty days seems fair, at least a week or two. Ie used the iPhone since 2007 and it was a helluva change from the 5s but incredibly well worth it. My son is now enjoying the 5s and setting things up for him or administering an app purchase for him is really, REALLY bizarre. It's extremely small, and hard to believe I was able to type as quickly as I could.

Anyway, I was a bit concerned about size when that pair of boxes showed up too. Almost sent them back, but my wife convinced me...and we're both as happy as we've EVER been with an iPhone. This is a pocket computer in every sense.

Well, the iPhone 6 DOES have more accessories for it out right now. It's one of the things it has going for it.

Not any more, always wait a few weeks, and a couple months in...a plethora of both are available. Lol, I carried mine in a sock for a week until I found the case I liked :)

It's fairly obvious the subject matter was clear enough to get as many responses as it did.

Maybe you're proud your thread has a thousand responses. But twenty pages in, a quick quote of your OP as a 'direct' response to you is definitely a reasonable use of 'quoting' someone. There's dozens of side conversations happening as well. A grammatical error, while in the rules is/was a simple side note to his or her response. And homestly, I'm not a 'fan' of the rule as it's nice to see folks time, spell and punctuate correctly. Makes it easier to read

Sheesh

Let me quit my 6-figure job and go back and rehash what I missed in my business writing classes. :D

6 figure gig, and your handle is ET iPhone Home? It's not 'business writing'. It's. Writing. And then there's business ...nevermind. He apologizes and you let him/her know your salary....

The outcome is I won't be listening to you advice. :p
"You" probably should. It may help 'your' writing.

Yes, I absolutely do feel better now. I returned the 6 Plus for a 6. Thanks for asking.

Ok this is more than a hoot....

I'm reading that the returns are due to bending. Never saw this happening.

That's because it's not 'happening'. Tough to see ghosts

Wait, but...you've chamged your mind. Again! Or was this an attempt to bump the thread a bit? Because now I'm confused....as now your appreciation for the 6+ that's bending and being returned?

Your damed for posting on an older thread and your damed to start a new thread that's already been open for discussion. (So my thought was  why not repost on a prior thread rather start a new one - damned once more).

'I' do too. It's the best ...tough, maybe a tie...iOS device to date. Along with the iPad Air2. Genuine Genius and incredibly powerful tools with the stamina, display and software/app selection to fortify any and everything one could need or want to do with a computer. The 6+ & Air2 are completely over the top, I'm glad you've come full circle in ninety days and a couple hundred responses to the contrary.

I'm with ya 110%. Old fogie. Bad eyes. Cheaters in every possible place I could possibly need them. The rMBPs, iPad and iPhone retina/HiDPI display in mobile Apple initiated with the iPhone 4 has completely changed everything.
And the attention to detail Apple puts into proper calibration and display 'correctness' to the consumer is phenomenal considering they're selling tens of millions a month!
...& to pay ALL that cash to SIT on it? Wallet ...Copenhagen go in the back. Phone on the front right. Left for spare change, keys & my knife.

I owned one of these during the John Sculley era at Apple. (I guarantee you it didn't bend). So you can be reasonably assured that I won't be returning my 6 plus.
