I'm sure the evidence and leaks are out there, it's just people don't care lol. The iPad really isn't what it used to be and no where close to the iPhone.

You may well be correct. However, I think iPads are still very important to Apple and and a hell of a lot of people like myself who use one every day. The iPhone is the number one product but I prefer my Lumia so let's move on.
I still think that if an updated iPad was imminent there would have been some hardware leaks. Not seen a single one so I put my money on no refreshed Air in October at least. Would love to be wrong but let's wait and see.

True.. it is crazy that we haven't seen anything yet. Keynote is this month! For the iPhones, we were seeing leaks months before..

Much as I like the Lumia I was very tempted with the 6+ when I played with one in the Apple store when I went to exchange the iPad. Sure it's big but still felt very comfortable to use. The 6 just didn't cut it in comparison.
Last iPhone I had was the 4s which was okay but a bit too small for me.
How are you finding the 6+? Off topic, sorry folks.

Loving it! The big screen was the only thing (imo) that the iPhone was missing. I don't think I would be satisfied with any other phone..

Also iPads last a lot longer than iPhones.

People like to upgrade there phones every 1-2 years.

iPads can easily last 3+ years.

True. Still using my iPad 2 here. Although since I got the 6 plus, I'm using it a lot less! Will probably update my daughters iPad 4 next, then I'll inherit hers and pass mine on to my mother, and release her from the crappy one she bought that runs android or whatever.

My iPad 2 was a fantastic device. Only upgraded when the Air came along. Preferred the thinner and lighter form factor.
If and when Apple release an Air 2 I will no doubt buy it. A little lighter, thinner and more powerful will do the job. Don't need it just want it as the saying goes!

Can't wait to get an air. Really want one before too long into 2015 so I don't have to keep carrying around a laptop and a phone and 17 chargers and cables... Consolidate efficiently and increase productivity.

Can you elaborate more on this? I noticed the reason iPhone releases are crazy is because of overseas Scalpers. People don't want iPads over seas?
It's not that people don't want iPads, it's that the motivations for purchase are very different. iPhone is a status symbol in a lot of countries overseas in a way that iPads simply aren't, probably because they aren't as portable or frequently-used in public.
Second, for a lot of people overseas, smartphones are their primary/only computing device, which means they'll want the best smartphone they can get but probably won't prioritize a tablet or laptop very highly.
Lastly, a lot of overseas tablet use is video consumption, often via dubious/grey-market streaming methods, which are more readily available on Android tablets.

Bottom line is that there are a lot of reasons why iPhone demand is and will always be much higher than for iPad.

Thanks for the information. All of that makes sense to me.

Tablet market has peaked.

Everyone has an iPad 2/3/4/5 or android device. Tablets need less upgrading than phones.

I wouldn't pay full price for an Apple iPad any more. Both my iPad 4 ($60 tatget gift card same day launch in 2012) and iPad 5(air) $100 target gift card Black Friday 3 weeks after launch.

So unless your employer or business reimburses you for ipad, I wouldn't pay full price for new iPad Air 2 (or whatever it's called)

Waiting to see the lack of 32g this round because like in the iPhone, 32g would be perfect.

Nope, unless Apple dramatically drops the price and that ain't going to happen.

or it will because not everyone agrees that the price is too high. just like they didn't last year, or the year before etc

----------

This time is different my fiance birthday is the 16th of October which I doubt it will be out by then

good instincts as the rumor is that that day will be the announcement not the launch.

but Im hoping I can just walk into a Apple Store when its released in Salt Lake City and get one without camping out. You guys think thatll happen or will there be a line like the iPhones? Thanks in adavnce

don't make your girl any promises because there could be a line. Watch for any talk about preorders or in store pickup. If they launch that off the top like they did with the phone, use it. Otherwise if there is a line you could be screwed (or not since your girl will be disappointed). with ISP its paid for online so you will have it no matter what. You just have to go and pick it up. Most stores even have two lines so the folks that already paid don't spend five hours waiting behind the non paid

I don't remember seeing long lines for the iPad launch last year or the year before. Last year on launch day I walked into Target and purchased a iPad Air in a empty electronics section. I didn't say the price is too high, I said their won't be long lines unless Apple does something drastic.

This is on the money. it's also why larger screen smart phones are all the rage overseas, especially in Asia. Which is why Samsung jumped on that bandwagon so early, their largest market is Korea where they are based.

perhaps not where you live but in major places like LA and NYC there were.

I didn't say the price is too high, I said their won't be long lines unless Apple does something drastic.

Oh excuse me, you are correct. you did NOT say 'the price is too high'. My bad, I shouldn't have claimed you said something you didn't.

However, you also didn't say 'their (sic) won't be long lines unless Apple does something drastic'. You said, and I will quote from message #2 of this very discussion, "Nope, unless Apple dramatically drops the price and that ain't going to happen." which infers that you believe the price is too high.

And like the inferred belief that the price is too high, your original statement that Apple needs to drop the price and this revamped statement that Apple needs to do 'something drastic' are just opinions and very likely not shared ones. Apple could every well NOT put sapphire screens, active digitizers, 2GB of Ram etc in the iPads, could NOT create a 20 Inch Pro model and all the other things the rabid geeks say they must, and still manage to sell millions by the end of the year

It is not going to happen this time because people are getting bored with same old iPad stuff. :apple:

YOU are bored with what you see as the same old stuff. And YOU believe that that's what the next one will be also.

But your beliefs could prove to be false. Apple could have something up their collective sleeve. And even if they don't, folks could still buy it in droves because they don't agree with you that it's boring old stuff

If I am bored I wouldn't buy an iPad Air but I bought it this year. I am talking about other people. I enjoy buying an iPad every two year or less if they haven't change technology at all. :apple:

iPads can easily last 3+ years.

It's funny how I've been an exception to the rule.

I upgraded iPad 2 -> iPad 4 -> iPad Air.

I upgraded to the 4 because of the retina display. I couldn't resist anymore; the quality difference of the screen was mind-blowing.

Then I upgraded to the Air the following year! But only because I wanted a cellular model; my iPad 4 was WiFi only. I figured it made more sense for me to buy an iPad Air than to try to find a used iPad 4 cellular.

But now that I have everything I need, I doubt I'll be upgrading again for at least 2-3 years.

I never bought a iPad or ever waited in line for anything I always ordered on the line (from the movie, The Internship) or waited for the buzz to die down. This time is different my fiance birthday is the 16th of October which I doubt it will be out by then but Im hoping I can just walk into a Apple Store when its released in Salt Lake City and get one without camping out. Thanks for explaining your joke.
Always nice to hear about another person receiving an iPad as a birthday gift.
I'm thinking of getting one for my probation officer. Maybe in gold..?

I agree that it isn't 2012 anymore and the iPad doesn't carry the same excitement in consumers hearts as it once did. That being said, I could still see a line on day one in the morning.

Unless apple does something drastic (ipad pro that does something drastically different than regular sized ipads), I cannot foresee there being large lines. Especially nothing like the lines for iphones. Even with the expected additions such as touch Id, and even 2gigs of ram, you'll be able to get whatever version of the ipad you want at most apple stores on release day. Most people don't understand nor know what ram does; and I am willing to bet they haven't noticed refresh problem on their current ipad (whatever version). Tablet sales are down across the board (including apple).

You make great points. I think we all agree that the iPad will never be in demand like the iPhone.
