Although it was years ago, a (possibly) good metric to use would be the lines for the 3GS launch.
You will have no problem getting a 4S the first week. Apple has totally angered a huge amount of 4 users. Most of the current 4 users are yawning and will be sleeping in on the release date.
The practical logical, aside from the fanboy disappointment, problem here is that the contract renewal will ruin the upgrade path to the 5 if a 4 users gets the 4S right away.
I would expect much shorter lines than in previous launches due to this merely being a "spec bump". There will stil be lines, but much shorter.
There have been long lines for every iPhone model released each year. This year will be no different.

That is what I was thinking. However, the 3gs had enormous lines. It will be interesting to see what happens. So far, every iphone model has been compelling enough for most current iphone users to want to upgrade. From the people in my circles (for whatever that is worth), the sentiment seems to be different this time around. No one cares to upgrade this time. As it gets closer to launch time, a lot of them may change their minds. We'll see.
Nice try. You should work harder at it and then come back with something more poignant. Your comment, while infantine and inane, might make more sense with a question mark.No such thing a 4G.
You're one of those statistics that thinks iPhone 4 has 4G capability aren't you.
Initially the lines will be as big as ever, but afterwards it will mellow out faster than with the 4.
