I don't want to sound mean. But why would anyone want to do this? Do you have to remain connected even when you're washing up for ten minutes? Just seems so pointless IMHO. I'm trying to understand who would do this, but it goes against common sense. I'm always amazed at some of the crazy things people try lol

I don't get what you think is so crazy about it.
I've always showered with my Pebble. I wear it everyday, it's nice to know that it's clean. And it's also nice to know if someone is texting/calling while you're in the shower.

Not a matter of being connected in the shower, but sometimes it's convient to just jump in and not have to remove your watch, etc. not wanting to use but but if you haven't on, just a pains to remove it evey day

If you have Raise-To-Wake on, the watch may activate inadvertently in the shower and then the droplets will press UI elements very fast. Before you know, your watch is doing Factory Reset.

Trust me. I've tried (with a different smartwatch).

Pebble has non-touch screen. That's a big difference.

Yes but I expect that if something went wrong you would use up one of your AppleCare+ replacements to get it fixed.

This is my plan, honestly. Based on Tim Cook's statement that he showers with it, my experience with "water resistant" watches being just fine in the shower, and my shower being relatively low pressure PLUS planning to get AppleCare+ as soon as I actually receive my watch: I will be showering with it. End of story.

If something goes wrong, meh, whatever, I'll be covered.

My Apple Try On Assistant dude specifically mentioned that it was okay to shower with, especially using the sport band.

Some people are clueless on how to manage information flow and think all technology is bad and scary even as they rush to buy each new gadget. You don't have to convince them of anything. Plenty others understand why it's desirable to maintain this kind of link at all times.

I shower occasionally with my pebble. I refer getting calls in the shower as "first world benefits". When I was sick with a nasty sinus infection and was literally just standing in the shower to steam my sinuses for relief, I was able to see on my pebble that the dr was calling with my prescription. Handy, even if it's not 100% necessary.

I have a Pebble watch that I purchased to tide me over until I get an :apple:Watch. It is water proof instead of just water resistant, and I do not wear it in the shower. No need to. I've never needed to know the time nor reply to an e-mail in the shower. ;)

I take long showers and always wear my Pebble. It controls my music while I'm in the shower.

I usually charge my smartwatch when I'm in the shower. I don't like having something getting in the way of cleaning my arm lol. But you should be able to wear it in there if you want.

I shower with my smart watch on every single day - have been doing so for the last 12 months. No problems at all except that the touch screen does not work perfectly when there is a lot of hot water and soap on it of course.

Showering with your watch is an exellent way to keep it clean as well. It might just be me, but if I wear my watch when working out (I am talking years ago when I wore a traditional watch) it gets somewhat sticky (and smelly over time) if I don't wipe it off. Much easier to just wear it in the shower.

Seems like you'd build up gunky dead skin and stuff on the part of your wrist that never gets exfoliated.

We have well water with a tendency to leave hard mineral deposits on everything, so not unless I was expecting a super important call. Even with thorough drying I worry I'll miss some deposits which will harden like concrete like they've done on my sink and counters if we miss a few drops when tidying up.

I think I will just charge it while I'm in the shower but it's nice to know it can go on water rides this summer at theme parks. I wish it were a little more water proof though so it could be worn swimming.

Jesus Christ. Disconnect for 10 minutes, focus on cleaning your filthy body, and stop wasting water.

I would use caution in the shower if you need to leave your watch on.

The reason the rating is 1 meter of water submersible, is because the deeper you go the higher the pressure of the water pushing past the seals in the watch.

Keep the watch out of very strong streams of water while showering so as not to force water into the casing and openings.

Really not advisable...

I definitely won't be...

I'm a believer that electronics and water do not mix. Waterproof or not. I agree with what some people are saying here. Why is it so hard to take off a watch to just shower for 10 minutes? I just don't think it's worth risking. But, hey, that's just me.

Not going to be an issue with the capacitive touch screen of the Apple Watch. Experiences with different devices are not necessarily indicative of what will happen with the Apple Watch.

still the same, ip ratings doesnt include humidity. if the thing is raited as a splashproof it doesnt mean that the thing can last in very high humidity.

you also need to understand that clean water has a surface tension, but mixin it with a soap, the surface tension is losen.

installing wankometer app or why do you need to take a shower with a watch?

It was working fine in the video review WSJ posted where she wore hers in the shower.

*Apple Watch is splash and water resistant but not waterproof. You can, for example, wear and use Apple Watch during exercise, in the rain, and while washing your hands, but submerging Apple Watch is not recommended. Apple Watch has a water resistance rating of IPX7 under IEC standard 60529. The leather bands are not water resistant.

Might receive a tweet that needs an instant response. LOLZ. I'm like one of the other posters, I have a water proof watch but it always comes off before I hop in the shower.

That's a little weird to shower with any type of jewelry or electronic on. Lol. I'm sure 5 to 10 minutes away from your devices won't kill you. I don't know. It'd feel odd not being completed naked while showering.
