I'm with you here. I don't understand the hate for those who do take off the day?

I also don't understand why people are so defensive about it. I sort of agree its kind of silly to take a day off for it but that shouldn't offend anyone.

Will you actually take off to watch the keynote?

This has been the case for almost every Keynote. Why's this one any different? All of a sudden it's silly, all of a sudden people are surprised how someone would take a day off to watch an Apple event?

No way.
I can always watch it on YouTube (apple uploaded the 2013 keynote) or I can just get the same information from refreshing the apple page every five seconds.

No need to take any days off.

Nope. Luckily for me, I can watch it at work. I have two screens, I can still work on one and view the other.

About how long do you guys think the keynote will be? An hour and a half? Two hours max?

I was thinking the same. Keeping in mind that it will probably be one of Apple's biggest and most important keynotes - 2 hours seems not unlikely.

So you're saying it'll last more than 2 hours? A lot don't you think?

I say it will last around 2 to 2,5 hours (funny to say :D).
And yeah, that's a lot but for two bigger and radically new iPhones plus the wearable.. it can be this long.

I'm guessing you don't have a family. If you do, you need to reassess your priorities. My wife would be kinda pissed if I used a personal day to watch something as trivial as a tech product announcement, regardless of what it is.

So your wife would be kinda pissed if every once in a while you take a day for yourself to do something you really enjoy regardless if she thinks it is trivial or not? Sounds like a wonderful women...

I have class that day starting at 2pm EST and I definitely can't skip. I'll probably go early (be there by 1) and watch live blogs until class starts then go home and see what I may have missed.

Curious to those of you who are taking off work. How many vacation days do you get per year?
Hmm, good point. I only get around 3 weeks and can only accumulate up to a max of 6 weeks. If I received and can accumulate more vacation days in a year, I'd be less worried about how I use it.

Nope. I might watch some of it in school, but I'll be so focused on my schoolwork that I'll probably decide it will be more worth my time and focus to just read what was announced in 5 minutes rather than gluing myself to my computer to watch the stream.

The keynote is at 4 or 5am in Australia, so I wouldn't stay up for it even if I wasn't working. I'll just wake up an extra half hour early to enjoy the news, than stroll into work as usual. WWDC and iPhone launches are the closest thing to Christmas morning.

Probably won't always prefer to read the post on Macrumors when the Keynote is over.

Not taking the day off here.

It wouldn't be my thought to take it off just for a keynote, but no judging here..since I take time off for my own geekery - video game releases.. (next one will be for the new WoW expansion....).

I'll be watching it / streaming blogs from work, like I do every year. Taking the day off to watch an announcement is a little too drastic IMO, but whatev.
