Will you try the new bumper on your iPhone 4?

what is the difference between the full body maximum coverage and the full body easy install ?

Fully body max, is the steel too.

THe easy install is just front and back.. I got the easy. Too complicated to protect the steel, especially if I am going to get a bumper.

yea what he said. the full body max covers the SS as well as the back and front. I'm thinking of doing the easy install and cover the SS with the bumper

i'll use the IS and a bumper probably. But this is the first time where I am considering no case for my iPhone. The 4 is just too good lookin to cover up this time around!

People who say the bumper will offer no protection are missing common sense.

The bumper will protect your iPhone in almost any situation. Drop the phone one of the sides or corners first? Without a bumper your screen is probably gonna crack, if not, then at the least you're getting a scratch on the stainless steel band. With the bumper the band will be safe and the glass has a much higher chance of not breaking

Drop the phone flat? With out the bumper, good chance the glass will crack, and even more so now that both sides are glass. With the the bumper being raised a little above the glass, you are good. No matter how the phone drops face or back first, the bumper will make contact on the ground first and will keep the glass off the ground.

So basically, no matter how you drop this phone, there's no way for any of the glass or the stainless steel band to make contact with the ground. Thats pretty good protection if you ask me. The only way the bumper wont help you, is if you drop the phone on the corner of something or an uneven surface like some rocks, but that's a very slim chance.

Now the people who prefer to buy full body cases or screen shields are the suckers. A full body case is going to cover up the great design of the phone and only going to offer you the little extra protection in the case of dropping the phone on some rocks. Not a worthy trade off at all.

And if there's one thing you don't need to worry about with the iPhone it's the screen scratching. I've had an iPhone every day of my life since the launch of the first gen, and I've never gotten a scratch on the screen. I don't baby it either. As long as you don't take it with you to the beach and throw it in the sand, you're not scratching the screen. ifixit said they took a screwdriver and razorblades to this thing and couldn't scratch it. I'm sorry but people who buy screen shields to protect it from scratches are the biggest suckers of all.

To summarize all this, I think the bumper case is the perfect solution. It doesn't detract from the aesthetics of the phone, offers great protection in almost every situation, and leaves both glass sides free to see and touch.

I'm willing to bet that an iPhone 4 kept in a bumper case for a year will still look pristine and brand new when taken out of the bumper.

white 32 gig if possible, and as far as bumpers go, i might just get some off ebay ;) cheaper lol, its not like there gonna protect the phone much anyway.

to protect the phone the zagg invisible shield should do

I think for $29 you get all 6 colors. not just 1. With the iPod socks you get all 6 colors for the same price, why not these?

I really wish this were true, if it is I will definitely be buying them, but I don't think this is the case...

I really like the look of the bumper, but I just don't know if I can make myself spend $29 on a tiny bit of rubber.

I'm not completely sold on the bumper, but I am willing to give it a chance, even if it is overpriced. If it doesn't work out, I'll at least have some form of protection on my phone until I find a better case. I also ordered a wrapsol for it. :D The way I see it: I'm spending $200 on a phone. What's an extra $30 to try something out on it?

is the bumper available online when you pre-order with apple or is it something we will have to get in store?

I think the bumper is cool because it will protect the phone, but it won't hide the design. $30 for them seems excessive though. But I'm not sure how well it will actually protect the phone, now that I think about it. I think it's just for looks.
What? The entire lines of the phone are dictated by the sharp edges of the glass and the metal frame. Cover that up and from the front you might as well have a crappy old iPhone,

Exactly what I want. Covering up Apple's flawless design with a piece of silicone or plastic seems horrible and I can't bring myself to do it. It devalues and cheapens the phone's look incredibly.

...

So, I'll be most likely getting a white bumper for my black iPhone 4.
Hang on, you can't bring yourself to cheapen the look of a phone, yet you are most likely going to get a white bumber for your black iPhone?

This may have been mentioned before and this is my theory. They designed the iPhone 4 and realized that if dropped at an angle you have a problem with breakage. They came up with the idea of the bumpers. How many times in the past has Apple had their own branded cases available? My gut is that they bumpers where created to prevent shattering or breaking these phones. The bumper is going to absorb and deflect enough to hopefully keep the phone safe.

SOmething else I has seen was that when some people make calls on the iphone 4 the bars go down once they touch the stainless steel sides. When they lay the phone down, the bars come back. Could our hands be shorting the antenna signal? If so, I would have hoped that Apple would have realized that and dealt with it. Then again, maybe the bumpers will help prevent this from happening too. Who knows? I'm just saying.

Definitely.

In my eyes, a case made by Apple for an Apple product seems like the best way to go. It's not often that you see a case put out & made by Apple so they must know what they're doing and they must have engineered the right type of case for proper iPhone 4 protection. So, to answer the question, yes. I will be using and have already ordered my white bumper for my black iPhone 4. :)

The glass on the 4 is pretty incredible stuff. Some people were doing a demonstration in my local mall sliding one 100' across the floor and couldn't scratch it. I'm sure a fall from 10' onto concrete would not be a good thing, but for everyday wear and tear, the bumper might not be necessary.

I have the tomtom car kit and plug my phone into it every time I enter the car just to keep the charge up if nothing else. I can't put anything on my phone unless I want to take it off every time I'm in the car. No thanks. I'll take my chances without a bumper.

I had my 3GS for over a year with barely a scratch. I keep it in a Golla bag on my belt and make sure I put the phone in the bag before I get out of the car or walk to far. Old age has blessed me with a case of the dropsies and I won't walk around holding in my hand.
