Unlikely for me. My 12.9 3rd Gen is still doing well. if anything, i'll spend the money on a battery replacement. Keep for longer. We still have the original iPad Pro from 2015. Used for 3 years until being replaced my 3rd gen. None of Apple's software nor any apps take full advantage of the CPU/GPU. Until there is a task that makes the iPad start lagging, that is when i will look for a replacement.

If Apple only updated the processor by one increment would that be enough? If not, what would it need to have to compensate?
Minimum 6GB RAM (hopefully 8GB on 1TB), 5G, Wi-Fi 6/802.11ax and improved battery life.

Of course, I'm still on the 2nd gen Pros. If I already had the 3rd gen, I like wouldn't consider upgrading.

MY SELLING POINT IS SOFTWARE!
Final Cut? Aperture? I do a lot of mobile video editing and photo work so that would get me to buy new hardware immediately. But if all they have is yet another benchmark boost with the same old Photos 2007 and iMovie Lite then what's the point.
Have there been any rumours re: Final Cut for iPad? Or will Apple purposely keep that to MacOS to drive sales of higher priced Mac hardware?

I'm finally moving from my 2016 Pro 9.7 to the 2018 Pro 12.9.

I will not be upgrading for at least 4 years unless this tablet gives out after my Applecare+ expires.

I only use it like a television.

My 9.7 is immaculate and has only left my home during moves.

No rumors but most people talk about it because it just makes sense.
- Apple brags about iPad Pro power.
- Apple plans to move all hardware to ARM processors.
- Apple makes their own amazing video editor.
- Apple added USB-C to the Pro line

Yet if you want true video editing on an iPad Pro then you need to go to a 3rd party app? That seems like a missed opportunity and Apple doesn’t tend to leave money on the table.

Same but with my 11. I missed the mark on the infinite Apple care plus by a few weeks and only have it for 2 years since I’m paying monthly. For $5 a month it’s not bad to just keep paying for it until canceled but oh well.

Since your AC+ is still active, I believe you have the option to continue paying for it indefinitely.

No. My IPP 2cd Gen is plenty fast for what I do, which is mainly take notes, use it as a second screen and watch videos/browse the net.I don't use the camera, so util a killer better iPad Pro comes out I'm OK with what I have. Now, if it would run a VM fast enough...

I agree software is the big need. Get Office on par with the Mac version. Add mouse/trackpad support. At that point, it becomes for me a viable MBP alternative; other than needing a VM to run PowerBI.

They changed it after I bought mine. Got it in August 2019 and they started it in September.
Doesn't matter as long as it's not expired yet.

The only who ones who can't extend are the ones whose AC+ already expired (e.g. 2017 iPad Pro bought Jun 2017).

If, for example, one got 2-year AC+ with 2018 Pro bought Nov 2018, that can be converted to continuous when it expires on Nov 2020.

No, my 10.5 IPP is running perfectly fine. People don't seem to understand how good Apple SoCs are and even the A10X in the 10.5 is extremely fast. With 4GB of RAM, I can have easily 10-15 tabs open, multiple apps in slide over and do all kinds of app switching seamlessly and smoothly. No tab or app reloading. There are multiple reasons an app can reload that's not related to RAM (i.e. Facebook).

There's nothing the A13X can offer. If anything, I'd upgrade to the 11 since it will hopefully be cheaper since my battery isn't lasting as long as it used to.

And unless there is a specific configuration price, don't up the RAM "just because".

I will definitely be upgrading my 2019 iPads Pros when the 2020 models arrive. I'm not sure if I'll upgrade the smaller 2019 iPad Pro actually, but definitely the 12.9". Faster CPUs and more RAM would be very pleasing for powerusers. Faster CPUs alone would be enough for me, I always want maximum performance.

8GB of ram on 1 TB model I sure hope so!

Maybe they will have a 2 TB model too! Hope so but doubt it.

Apple does not do battery replacements on iPads. They just replace the whole iPad.

Nope, I’m good for a while with my 2018 12.9”. I maxed out the storage and RAM so that I wouldn’t feel compelled to upgrade to the next iteration.
It’s such an expensive device that I don’t see upgrading every year or two as justifiable, nor do I see it as necessary given the power and capability that I’m not even fully utilizing.
I’ll probably wait until the next big hardware refresh. That being said, a more robust keyboard option could end up enticing me.

11 inch pro will be my next iPad for sure now I have my MacBook Air....don't think I would need the size close to my air. portability on the sofa will be better. Just got to decide between 256GB and 512GB.
