Too many times, I swore I would not upgrade my iPhone or watch until the keynote videos/specs were released and I immediately changed my mind.
I'm really curious to see how many respondents lean yes on an upgrade from first gen to second gen as time goes on. Right now it's at 42% of the lean yes votes, which is higher than I'd anticipated. Since this is an Apple enthusiast site, perhaps I shouldn't be surprised. Lots of people upgrade devices every year.Absolutely not. The only thing that could get me to upgrade is when my current Ultra gets annoying enough by being slow, having bad battery life, or no software upgrades. Unlike iPhones, I don’t really feel the desire to upgrade often with Apple Watches.
Don't know, if they will release a new one...In the event Apple releases a 2nd Generation Apple Watch Ultra this year, do you plan to buy one? Why?
Just curious- did you come up with $350 randomly or is that a legit realistic figure based on Apple trade in values?I currently have 3 AWs: Ultra, S7 Ti and S4 SBSS.
Here are 2 reasons where I will consider getting the Ultra 2:
1. New health sensor, eg blood pressure
2. Apple will give me a $350+ trade-in
#1 - possible, see link below what technology can do today. Likely? probably not this year
#2 - that would be a first. when I got my Ultra last year I checked the trade-in value of my S7 Ti (not even a year old at the time and actually was $849 new) - a measly $150 or so. So I decided to keep the S7. Likelihood of such a trade-in value? 0.00001%
historically that number is totally unrealistic, for example I looked into trading in my S7 Ti ($849) when getting the Ultra and apple's offer was in the $150 range ... so, IF Apple were going to give me $350 for my Ultra when trading it in for the Ultra 2, I absolutely would do it, just, there is a 0.0000001% chance of that happeningJust curious- did you come up with $350 randomly or is that a legit realistic figure based on Apple trade in values?
That trade-in price is the same for all S7 models. So you get the biggest percentage of your money back if you bought the aluminum smaller size watch.historically that number is totally unrealistic, for example I looked into trading in my S7 Ti ($849) when getting the Ultra and apple's offer was in the $150 range ... so, IF Apple were going to give me $350 for my Ultra when trading it in for the Ultra 2, I absolutely would do it, just, there is a 0.0000001% chance of that happening
yea, that's certainly true re the Alu watches retaining better value ...That trade-in price is the same for all S7 models. So you get the biggest percentage of your money back if you bought the aluminum smaller size watch.
While $350 seems unrealistic, I wouldn't be surprised if Apple offered a bit more for the Ultra than for the S8. Maybe in the $200-250 range.
that rumor is quite fishy and I wouldn't make much of it ... Apple will not compromise the durability to shave off a gram or 2.The rumor from this morning about it being lighter concerns me a bit. That would seem to mean either reduced battery size or reduced/modified case material, if not both. Which would seem to compromise two of the biggest features of the Ultra.
I traded my Ultra to best buy for $350 last week. They COULD make an AWU2 NON MOUNTAIN CLIMBER version, which could lower some of the titanium use, and thickness… with a new chipset they could even extend the battery life (I get ~ 72 hours easily without battery saver), and they could increase screen size about 7% without changing the form factor of the outer bezel. that MIGHT get me to upgrade assuming one gets ~ 450-500 as a trade in.
