They COULD make an AWU2 NON MOUNTAIN CLIMBER version, which could lower some of the titanium use, and thickness… with a new chipset they could even extend the battery life (I get ~ 72 hours easily without battery saver), and they could increase screen size about 7% without changing the form factor of the outer bezel. that MIGHT get me to upgrade assuming one gets ~ 450-500 as a trade in.
from who? Apple? you're dreaming LOL ... I'd be biting if they gave the $350 as I said in my earlier post here and I don't think that will happen.

It’s annoying…I’d decided to pull the trigger on an AWU now just as the rumours appeared which seem to confirm an AWU 2 in September.

£850 in the UK…I wonder what I’d get if I sold one privately in September/October (assuming the upgrade was worth having of course)? Lose £200 maybe?

Why would you do this ? What’s in the 2 that’s not in the 1?

That’s the question…nobody knows for sure yet. Slightly better battery life? Slightly faster processor? Slightly bigger screen? As you say, suspect only small improvements/changes.

Yes, I'm replacing my Series 4. I exercise a lot, especially in the past year, and the battery life just doesn't hold up when I do workouts any more. I'm more excited for this than just about any other Apple product coming out this autumn. I'm getting more into hiking as I build endurance and strength and like to hike out into the snow in the woods. Would be fun to get lost in the woods in a snow storm and use the waypoint features to find my way back. But I'm mostly looking forward to the more rugged design with a larger display and amazing battery life.

With the upgrade cycle I'm on, I'm hopeful that my next upgrade will include more health monitoring features such as blood pressure and blood glucose monitoring. But thanks in no small part to my Apple Watch, I've gone from having high blood pressure to normal blood pressure and from being pre-diabetic to normal blood sugar. At least according to my lab results. I also did the same thing before the pandemic but things quickly went off the rails. This time my Apple Watch is playing an even larger role as I modified my diet to less of an extreme and am exercising much more. I'm hoping this will be more of a sustainable, behavioral change.

I don’t have AppleCare on my Ultra, so I may just trade in to Best Buy or Apple if I get a good deal and buy another Ultra 1st gen, but make sure it have AppleCare this time around. I don’t need the next generation for a few years. All of my other health accessories I can just keep adding to the Health App or through apps that upload to the Health App. I don’t need any new health sensors for right now.

In the event Apple releases a 2nd Generation Apple Watch Ultra this year, do you plan to buy one? Why?

In my case, I'm leaning somewhat toward buying one. It puts me back on my watch upgrade cycle, it's a 2nd gen product, and after having seen some in real life I've decided it's not as offensive looking in-person as the marketing pictures make it look. I've also wanted a titanium Apple Watch with sapphire crystal for years, and this seems like it'll be the only option for that going forward.
No

What’s wrong with the ultra right now? Is the procedure bad or something ?
nobody said it's bad but like with all tech a new model will come out that's better a year later. the fact we have had the same processor for like 3 years it feels like a new updated one would help the watch.

In day to day operations, there is honestly not much off a user experience difference between my AW4 and Ultra.

Yes the Ultra has a much better battery life lasting me 2 days, but in terms of day to day operations not so much at all, the only big difference is the always on display, but my AW4 has a sharper and more vibrant display then my Ultra....

My day to day experiences has not changed much at all since my 2018 AW4....

So i dont think i will upgrade for another 4 years.

That trade-in price is the same for all S7 models. So you get the biggest percentage of your money back if you bought the aluminum smaller size watch. ;)

While $350 seems unrealistic, I wouldn't be surprised if Apple offered a bit more for the Ultra than for the S8. Maybe in the $200-250 range.
Do you always trade yours in?

I’m still very much on the fence about this. With the iPhones, I always tell myself I’m not going to upgrade, but then I watch the keynote and immediately want to upgrade. I love the current ultra I have right now, so I guess it just depends on what new features get announced with gen 2. It would be very hard for me to not buy it if they announce a new black/darker version.

There should be a ”no way” option.

Dealbreakers:
- it’s rectangular
- needs at least one week battery life with normal usage
- cannot sync Apple Health data with my current health insurance provider, and that would be a net loss of over $300 a year, which I currently use to buy more sports gear - can only do Garmin, Polar, Fitbit & Android Wear
- I really like the Garmin built-in navigation, which is as excellent out on the mountain in Switzerland and giving turn-by-turn directions to restaurants here in Palermo where I’m on holidays, without purchasing any app or loading anything to it whatsoever.

I just love the hassle free stuff and I don’t want to baby my smartwatch with loading maps, charging all the time etc.

I voted leaning no. Currently, I'm on a two-year upgrade cycle, and this isn't an upgrade year. Plus, the current Ultra is a big big for me, I want a smaller size Ultra. If there is a small size Ultra in 24, I'll strongly consider it.

Same here - LOVE my Ultra and easily the best AW I've had to date. Have had S0, S2, S4, S7 and Ultra. My S0, 2, 4 was Steel and S7 Space Black Titanium - Even though I love the current look of the titanium, a Space black ultra would look pretty bad ass.

Really? I find that hard to believe. I had the Ultra and the S6 for about a week while I was trying the Ultra before finally deciding to go with the S8. The Ultra screen was much brighter and easier to read than the S6.

Do you always trade yours in?
Yes. I hang on to the S0 because it felt historic to have the original watch. But every watch after that I've traded in. I figured out I get most value by upgrading every other generation. I went from S2 to S4 to S6 to S8, trading in each time.

From what I’ve read, Apple doesn’t offer much for Apple Watch trade ins?
