My 3 is still getting the job done. Going to hold off until the 6* which at that point will be a pretty decent upgrade from my current iPad and worth the cash.

*Unless Apple really comes out and wow's us with some serious tech.

Already sold my 3 and will be getting the 5.

I am going back to a Wi-Fi only model though. I had the LTE model of iPad 3 and I only used the built-in connection one time on a road trip I took shortly after purchase (for 1 month) and then pretty much kept the cellular off for about 1.5 years.

I also keep my music and podcasts on my iPhone and often found myself listening to my iPhone while browsing on the iPad, so I will go back to a 16GB iPad (I got the 32GB iPhone already, and the 32GB of space on my iPad seemed redundant) to save money.

Last time I spent around $900 in total on my iPad (32GB, Cellular, and AppleCare+). This time I will get the base for $540 ($499 + 10% tax) and call it a day.

Main reason: despite my added features/upgrades which cost almost $400 extra at the time, I got maybe $50 more in resale value over the base models. Not worth it unless you NEED and will use those features for yourself.

Especially now that resale values are collapsing due to the high volume of used iPads and other Apple devices on the second hand market. It's not like the good ol' days when you'd sell a year or more later and lose maybe 20%.

Not with the current iOS7 Crayola interface. Maybe buy the Surface 2 on its x86 hardware and install Linux or a bastard Windows 7 or OS X.

I voted he'll yeah. I skipped the 4th gen. I use mine a lot but also have held some larger Android tablets that are much thinner and lighter. If they make it thin and light like the mini and include the fingerprint reader then it's a no-brainer for me.

Whatever they've got :)

Its going to be rather fun comparing this stuff to my iPad 4

Note: ( this forum is going to heat up :D )

I agree totally had ipad1 and 3 from launch, I am so over the iPad now, there is nothing I can do on an iPad that I can't do with the phone in my pocket. if I am lazing on the crouch/bed and want to see somthing big, I just mirror my phone to the nearest tv. iPhones going 16:9 made mirroring a pleasure.

Yes. The iPad is just a big iPhone, the way it is. Apple should improve it. Otherwise, I'm not buying another one soon.

Nope, had the 1st gen and got the 3rd when it came out because I heard the 1 wouldn't get new os's. Also, on top of my iPad 3 16gb wifi my job gave me an iPad 4 32 gb wifi to use. I'd rather wait another gen or 2. Upgrading my iPhone next year may be a better use of cash.

I voted "Yes" and I'm pretty sure I'll make the jump from the 4 to the 5 if the 5 includes Touch ID. If it doesn't, then I will consider holding out until the 6 is available next year.

Shouldn't we have already gotten notification in the way of leaks if these were in mass production already?

It's only 2 weeks away and all I've seen looks like the same back case over and over.

I don't know

Maybe I haven't been listening

Future-proof is a myth.

At today's warp speed creation of new products, you may find something far better in a year or two.

At least you will be able to sell it.

Well, I'm still rocking a 4S and I'm happy with that, how it handles iOS 7 and its speed. So I'll be quite satisfied with the punch the iPad 5 packs ;)

Not worth what the price? Not worth it to you yet you bought a second and then third one?

Auto correct on the iPhone has not been my friend lately.

I was saying that I've owned the 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation iPads. However, I haven't found them to worth the price for my usage needs.

I don't play games and have yet to find an app to permit the type of admin needs I have. Therefore, an iPad is just a device to browse the web, red books, watch some youtube/media, etc..

Why spend $500 for that, when I can get a kindle fire HD for $100+.

Sure, it's two separate machines and the iPad is better. As I said in my initial reply though, it depends on what you need in the device.

My iPad mini is my fax machine. I also sign legal documents. The list goes on...

If mini has retina, than just maybe :D

If not, iPad 5 here I come, if it has some nicer features over the Mini

Right now I am waiting to check out the Ipad 5 and the Samsung 10.1 2014 version. I was hoping that the rumors of a 12" Samsung tablet was true but right now it looks like it is not going to be released anytime soon. I am getting ready to replace the laptops in our work truck fleet with some type of tablet. I have got to figure out how to print to a networked Zebra GX420 printer from the tablet. I am not sure if it is even possible on any tablet, but it looks like my being able to use this network printer is much more possible on the the Samsung. The Surface Tablet would definitely be an option if it were LTE capable.

I am really excited about this release. I'll be upgrading from the 3 to 5. I'm looking forward to a much faster processor and GPU, better WiFi, faster charging, less weight, plus whatever else Apple has cooked up.

I use this a lot personally but also use the iPad for business. I have a couple dozen Keynote presentations I use for sales and teaching. I'm also writing an eBook with iBooks Author about the technical use of our product.

iPad 3 is great but I find it lags somewhat when navigating large images or PDFs. The A7 should fix that.

I just bought an iPad 3 over the summer so that will have to do for a while. I'm going to wait until the iPad 7, then buy a refurb iPad 6.

I have an iPad 2 (32 GB white bezel). I am seriously considering trading it in for an iPad 5 (32 GB white bezel).

The reason is simple: I want the Retina Display (iOS 7.0 is optimized for the Retina Display on the full-sized iPad), but in the very latest model. :)
