Aluminum213 You guys are actually expecting it to be announced at the 9-9 conference?

I'm not, I would expect it to be announced in October, but some people on the internet are saying it may be announced tomorrow.

I won't be upgrading. My iPad Mini w/Retina works fine. I don't plan on upgrading that for another year or two. My mother has been really, really been wanting an iPad Air for months, which I had promised her back then that I would buy her one in September. Well, the time has come and I asked her today if she would rather wait until October-November to get the new one. She told me no, that she didn't care about Touch ID and A8 chip and all if that, she wants the Air right now LOL. So I will just go ahead and get the current Air for her...plus, the only other tablet she's ever had is a 10" Acer Iconia that's 5-6 years old, so even the Air 1st gen will be a HUGE improvement for her.

I have the 3. Still does what I need it to do, but tempted by the weight difference. I played around with the Air, but didn't like how it felt when tapping on the glass. If the Air 2 has a better tap feel, might be tempted, but still interested in a Pro model if there are good rumors about it, I can wait for that.

Yes, I'm upgrading from my iPad 3. I notice the difference when tapping on the glass of the Air, also. Feels cheap.

Not enough there there. waiting for ipad pro or broadwell surface pro 4

Few months ago, I got iPad Air 128 GB for good discounted price.

There is this Safari tab reloading issue. I feel that it might be some memory leak problem. Because the tabs reload even if I have removed all apps from multitasking menu. It might not even be RAM shortage related. Apart from that, there is absolutely no problem.

So I will jump to Air 4.

If it has 2GB ram yes. If it has 1GB I will just buy the current one.

I realize apple uses memory compression but damn... 1GB is so 2005.

I will be getting the iPad Air 2, just for the touch ID integration. If it has more RAM then thats all the better for me. :)

Although I find myself debating, Cellular or WiFi again. Currently have Cellular. Its nice to have it on a different network.

If Apple does announce iPad Air 2 today, then I'm sure they will announce the iPad mini retina 2 as well. If it has touch ID, I might consider getting one but I guess we'll have to wait and find out. However, it is likely to have 1 GB ram but of course we have to take this as a grain of salt. Only we can find out later at the event.

Yes i will be getting the Ipad air 2(64GB) with 2GB of RAM and multi window(split sceen) and touch ID and a powerful A8 CPU for Christmas.

Because i want get into the amazing Ipad world and there are lots of very good apps that are only made for the sceen size(9,7 inch) of the Ipad.

I feel this is the pefect time to buy a Ipad.

And it is going to be my 1st Ipad and my 4th tablet to add to my tablet collection! :)

I will definitely be upgrading to the new iPad Air 2, probably at least 128g. But I am a power user.

I use my iPad 3 for absolutely everything, I have even given up the notebook. My dad has the iPad Air and the difference is chronic, ney intergalactic,...well you know what I mean. The iPad Air vs the iPad 3 shows more than a 5 x performance jump!!!

I suspect that the reason people are not interested in upgrading from their iPad 3's is that they are not using it for anything too intensive. You will really see a big difference when editing complex/ large pages docs, the same goes for keynote presentations.
Where you will also notice a big difference is in fast multitasking.

As you know BioShock was just released for iOS, well guess what the iPad 3 is not supported....the first time I have seen my iPad 3 not supported for something and so.....it begins. Can you blame Apple absolutely not, times have changed.

With that being said, apart from sentimental reasons, I can't imagine not wanting to upgrade from an iPad 1 or 2, with what's coming out.

But that's just me,

how exactly are you a power user besides playing games?

Not at all lol. This was the biggest jump as the chip is 64bit and the os is 64bit. Tell me in a year or two that your iPad is the same as the air. I mean the air will handle the ios updates a lot better seeing as apple is making all new os's 64bit natively. Just my thoughts but hey fell free to say what you like.

You said yourself, in a year or two, not now.

Nope, my iPad air still works perfectly fine. I wish it had touch ID, but it's not really a big deal to me. I'll get a new one when this one becomes a laggy pos.

If iPad Mini with Retina Display 2 comes out with A8, I might consider getting that since it uses less battery.

No guarantee Apple will do a rMini update this year after releasing the 5.5" iPhone. The rMini sales are going to go down with people getting the iPhone instead and they may be on a 2 year update schedule. Besides, I have seen lots of leaks on the Air 2 but nothing on a rMini update.

Nah I'm pretty sure Apple will still have the iPad Mini with Retina Display 2. the iPhone 6+ is pretty much a phabletl

You do realize that ipad air and the ipad mini with retina display has the same spec and design (setting aside the size), so it's likely that with the leak of Air 2 there will be iPad Mini with Retina Display 2 as well. Of course in a smaller form.

However I don't believe in the leaks for the Air 2 just yet so we will find out in October. Even if it doesn't come out, it's not the end of the world. Apple will eventually release the iPad mini with Retina Display 2 as well.

I am also wondering how iPad Mini could survive with the coming of iPhone 6 Plus. For most of people, iPhone 6 plus is enough to replace iPad Mini.

That aside, now that there is retina HD, I was hoping Apple would include this in their 2014 iteration of iPad. Oh and AC wifi and improved camera as well if possible. If you don't improve the Megapixels, at least improve the sensor.

I'll be upgrading my iPhone and rMini this year. We didn't hear much about The 5.5 iPhone till lately...

I will probably be upgrading my iPad 3. Plus I need to get some devices for the kids (probably mini's). Even if those are not the latest/greatest the current models will hopefully drop nicely in price.

No. iPad mini for me, assuming that a new one is coming this year.

I just hope so, I could use touch ID and 2GB of ram!
iPad Air is great, but I can easily carry iPad mini with me all the time in my bag while Air is slightly larger and not so convenient.

No, I'm thinking I will wait for the next generation of Surface Pro now that details of Intel's Broadwell (Core M) chips have been released.
Faster than the previous generation, better battery life, and completely fanless? Sounds like they are onto a winner.

I want a device which has a built-in stand - the smart cover is a poor alternative to the Surface kickstand.
I want a proper pen input for sketching.
I'm sick of apps crashing and tabs constantly reloading on my Air.
I hate how slow it is to switch between apps, and that you can't multi-task with two apps open at a time.
I hate that you can't even change things like the default browser or use a custom search engine in Safari etc.
I hate that media support is so limited on the iPad. Any time I want to put music or videos on it, I have to convert the files. With the Surface I can stream my Blu-ray and DVD library without conversion.
You can actually play real games on a Surface - pair a Bluetooth controller and access anything on your Steam library, or stream more demanding games from your desktop PC via Steam.
You can use any USB devices. I can just plug in a thumbdrive to access the data on it rather than needing a PC or transferring it over the internet.

It won't be perfect - I tried the Pro 2 when it came out and ended up with another iPad - but I'm really finding the iPad far too restrictive these days, and Apple doesn't seem to be focused on improving it.
