When you type in that *DATA# thing and it sends you a message saying how much data you've used and how much text you used, does that count as a text message if you don't have unlimited?![]()
What I've read has been pretty much the opposite. My understanding is that text messaging rates have generally been increasing while adults are making fewer mobile phone calls than they did in years past. At least this is according to what I've read in the recent past. I definitely recall reading a few WSJ articles on the subject, less than a year ago. I know that in the end this stuff probably doesn't really matter to most of us, I guess I was just surprised to read a comment that ran so contrary to what I've picked up on.there was an article somewhere the other day, maybe yahoo, I don't remember- but it was talking about how texting in general is way down compared to the last few years. Probably due to the rise of BBM and similar programs. But when I read it I realized that I myself text WAY LESS than I used to. I used to send thousands of those things a month and now I hardly ever use them. I used to have whole conversations over text (while at work or an otherwise "quiet" place) and now I just send one or two that get right to the point and that's the end of it. I have an unlimited plan so I'm not being conservative with them, I just use them less.
I've had unlimited texts for a good 3 or 4 years now, although I'd say I'm only a moderate textor. Most of those that I DO text have iPhones. I'm seriously considering cancelling my texting plan, or at least going down to a cheaper one.
With it seeming almost everyone has an iPhone these days what will you do?
EDIT: I should have titled the thread "will you lower your plan"
I don't have a texting plan right now anyway. I use email with all of my friends who have email on their phone, and when I want to text with someone I tell them to send texts directly to my email, then add the reply address to my address book. That way it's an email from my end, but comes in as a text for them.
I don't know why more people don't do this.
Remember unlimited text on Att you get to cal any cell phone for free

Not sure how you differentiate a BB from a dumbphone.![]()
No, and no.
