I was all ready to replace my mid-2010 15" MBP with the new 2016 model, and waited for the keynote to see what would be offered. I'd already been considering the 12.9 iPad Pro as a possible replacement. Once I saw the $2400 price tag on the new MBP I went out Friday and picked up the iPad Pro and a Zagg slim book keyboard/case and have never looked back. My old MBP will now serve as a DVD player as needed since it has the Super Drive.

$2400? The model configuration I was looking at would cost $4599....

I think of the reason Apple chose the price points for the new MacBook Pros wad to encourage lower wnd users to use iOS devices.

I believe Apple wants to phase out OS X in favor of iOS.

I don't think they want to phase it out. I believe they want to eventually merge both operating systems, but it will be a long term thing. In the meantime, I think they want to get many users over to iOS.

Those who need the capability will still use a mac, but for many people who currently own macs, an iPad Pro would be perfectly suitable for their needs.

Hmmm, well it worked on me.

The massive delay got me to buy my first iPad and the cost of a new one (MBP) to replace my old one sealed the deal. In the meantime my Air1 has and will continue to do just fine, thanks.

Looking forward to the Spring Event and an iPP 2.

It's funny people here seems to have 2010 MBPs.

I have my 15" 2010 MBP and iPad 3. All of which are aging and dying. I'm considering the iPad Pro/ m7 MacBook/ the new MacBook Pro. But the new MBPs are massively overpriced.. And I'm planning to buy a gaming computer with GTX 1060 soon.....

So I guess Apple is out of the question for now.... Fallout/ Mass Effect/ Dragon Age come first.

I don't have a problem with this, many user's would be fine using just IPP...but if that's the case, then why keep making the MBP thinner and thinner at the expense of power.

Make a MBP 'brick', and people who don't need 'a brick' will flock to the IPP ;)
