I'm wondering who will keep it on. I don't really like it on Apple Watch and I don't want my screen on my iPhone on the whole time (even if at low brightness) I rather get extra battery by disabling it.

It’s my favorite feature of the Apple Watch! I love that I can just glance at the watch and see the time. To me before that update the Apple Watch was terrible at being a watch.

I don’t know if it’s going to be the same with the iPhone because I don’t know if I’ll just glance at my iPhone to see those notifications or time. I don’t think it’s going to be quite as useful but I am going to wait and see. I don’t suspect it’s going to be that big of a battery hit especially for the larger iPhones. Well I guess that would be the Pro Max because it’s not on the Plus

No AOD was one of a couple of things keeping me from switching from android to iPhone. I just wish the camera was getting a longer zoom. And I hope that they improve on and increase the number of widgets.

Anyway. Does anyone have an idea of how Apple will prevent screen burn in With AOD? That has always been my main concern with OLED screens, especially after seeing friends with both samsung and apple phones with burn in on their screens.

I’m gonna wait for the battery drain tests on YouTube When parts of the tests are on standby and then they can test one phone with AOD and the other one with It disabled

For me, this will be most useful. My phone sits on my desk much more than in my pocket every day. I either work on the computer next to it, or pass by the phone many times. Now I don't have to tap on it for what feels like a hundred times a day just to check if there is a message or if I missed a call. And in other situations, I might no longer have to tilt the phone up just to wake the phone to check the time.

So how will AOD work with the iPhone in your pocket, or in a bag? Will barely touching it force it to wake up? Will it wake up from being moved around or with movement? I know this question probably can’t be answered yet since we don’t have the new iPhone. I suppose we will find out. I’ll leave mine off if it becomes a nuisance

If it’s in a pocket/bag or turned face down, AOD is disabled automatically.

I will use it in the car when I’m not using Car Play. Otherwise I can’t see a reason. Even as a former Samsung user, I never say the appeal, beyond the clock, that is.

I'll be keeping it on... especially if as rumoured its smart enough to know when me/my apple watch isn't near to it and it turns the screen completely off anyway.
