Def wouldn't shower with the leather band. I'll let others be the guinea pig on how it holds up in the shower. The way the genius bar is with water damage would scare me away from risking it.

I can see people bathing with their Watch on and relaxing, watching TV above their jacuzzi, but not showering. But maybe only uber-rich people do those things :( Heck, they probably have a butler named Maxwell too.

I never shower with my watch on. I am curious to see how Apple will deal with water damage claims though.

I shower with my pebble and would probably shower if I got the Sport model BUT I am getting the SS with Link and even though I doubt it will hurt the mechanism I do not want to take any risk of dulling my stainless. And yes I know it should be good quality SS. I can handle 5 minutes with it off.

I can't imagine showering with any watch, much less an Apple Watch

I don't shower with my iPhone, my iPad, my wallet, or my car keys either
Maybe I'm in the minority, but I prefer to be naked in the shower so I can, um, you know... shower with suds and shampoo and get clean
I am not in the shower long enough to need a watch to tell me the time

Right, and I don't expect to burn enough calories showering to worry about them not being tracked by my Watch.

I'll be getting one of these: : ) But seriously, I'll be charging the watch between 9P and 12M, then I go to sleep. I shower about 10P. I'll wear the watch to bed. I want to try the alarm on it, see if the tap will wake me. I'll set it stronger. I'm also want to use 24/7 by MotionX to monitor sleep, I sure they'll come out with a Watch companion. They are a solid company.

I would like to, but I want others to test it before I take mine in there. It's not as much of being able to tell the time in the shower as it is being able to get notifications. If a really important call comes in, you can turn off the water, answer, and ask them to call you back. Even better if its a Message, just respond on the watch.

I'll wait a few months before I do, to see what the long-term-use reviews say. I'm sure if I accidentl leave it on it'll be fine, but I won't make a habit out of it until I know it's ok

I'm sure the watch will hold up, as long as you don't have a leather band. A shower is quite easier on the watch than being submerged in water, which it can handle according to its rating. But, I want to wash that part of my wrist without adding time/awkwardness to the shower by temporarily swapping wrists or something.

Why do people shower with them on? Surely it's preferable to be... well, completely naked to clean everything on you? You're not needing to know the time, you're not walking or interacting with folk whilst in it so why would you need the watch?

Charge it during the shower. Or at least give your wrist some breathing space before the day starts.

Hmm, not waterproof huh. One more reason for me not to buy one, at least the first generation. Perhaps they can make the 2nd gen waterproof.

I shower with my Pebble every single day, and even go swimming with it. But it's rated 5 ATM. And fully waterproof, as the buttons are sealed with rubber gaskets. Nothing like sending your friend a text message while you're under water in the pool :p

But really, I do it because I can easily lose track of time in the shower. Turning a 5-10 minute deal into 30 by staring at the wall and getting lost in thought. So it's nice to have, and to be able to set an alarm on the watch to let me know to get going. Or see lap times in the pool.

I guess it would be pretty difficult to use the Apple Watch in the shower or underwater because it's a capacitive touch screen, so it wouldn't make as much since as the Pebble that just has buttons. But it would be nice to at least see the watch face and incoming notifications.

Oh, and charging during the shower sounds odd to me now, I charge my pebble once a week, and it only takes about two hours if it's nearly dead. I know others have had battery life issues with them, but I consistently get 7 days out of mine, and I even have a watch face that updates the weather every 30 minutes. It'd be a slight adjustment, but I'd just sit it by my iPhone every night.

Who the hell showers with their watch on?! (Tim Cook can do whatever he wants. He's Tim Cook!) I don't understand why anyone would be comfortable with this. I take showers to clean myself, not my accessories. I'm gonna start leaving my socks and maybe my belt on when I shower...

I just don't get it.

I used to shower with my Garmin watch and eventually there was a build up of soap scum on the strap that was really hard to get off. So even if I owned a diving watch I wouldn't wear it in the shower.

I read somewhere that the watch fully charges in about 3 hours, so there's no need to have that extra charging time while in the shower - if you charged overnight, by that point it is full.

NOO.

I tried it. Well, with a Moto 360. Many don't realize that water activates the capacitive sensor on a touch screen. Every little drop of water makes the watch freak out as it tries to interpret the input. It started swiping away notifications and remotely calling people on my contact list. Same problem in the rain. I had to buy an app that disabled the touch screen unless I typed in a code.

This was on Android Wear, so Apple may of course better implement a solution; but trying to use a touch screen in a wet environment is very hard ;).

I have never showered whilst wearing my watch and I don't intend on starting now. It's beyond me why others would do so. I don't see the point personally.

I do. But my current watch is waterproof. No chance I would wear a £600 apple watch though. Not because of the expense (my current watch costs more but is properly waterproof).

I was also excited about being able to skip through songs in the shower but capacitive touchscreens don't work well with water on them. I owned a Sony Z2 for a while and I wasn't even able to take underwater video (just pics with the physical button) because of this matter.

When I come in from just doing an extreme trail run and are covered in sweat and dirt I get in the shower as quickly as possible. Also the watch is dirty, sweaty and nasty. So it gets cleaned and saves a step in the process.

Anyone can have their own reasons for wearing a watch in the shower.;)

My hope is that even though the stated time is 18 hours, that it will last ~22 including my 8 hours of sleep time. I'd be able to sleep with it on, then plug it in when I wake up, so it charges while I'm getting ready, eating, etc.
