Will you upgrade?

If it's a decent price then I may. Looking at some of the contracts for the iPhone 4 and it's still quite a bit to pay for the phone as well.

The logic in my brain says no, my iPhone 4 is fantastic. But Im a sucker for new stuff, so...............yes

Glad I'm not the only one!

Right now I'm desperate for a bigger screen, everything else on my ip4 is fine.

Sooo...if it has a bigger screen I'll upgrade, if it doesn't I'll either move to a sim only contract and keep my ip4 (really looking forward to ios5 as well) OR buy the Motorola Droid Bionic (or whatever the uk equivalent will be).

will you upgrade if apple keeps the design?

No.
Oh I'll upgrade alright. To a Nexus Prime.

Okay I can't say it for certain, but I really don't see myself buying another iPhone with this tiny screen.

My Infuse has spoiled me
That's just it. There's SO many new modern phones out there with 4" or 4.3" displays and beautiful design that I just couldn't go with a tiny 3.5" screen any longer.

If apple were to keep the phone the same, I'd keep my iPhone 4 and try android for a year and come back next year when they re-design it. More importantly, would I be able to jailbreak it.
+1. Do a body good to go try out the competition while Apple gets it game on for next year.

I think the 14-15 month wait is the reason. I don't see why Apple would delay for so long for a mere spec bump.
Depends how arrogant Apple is and how little they think of their customers.

There are many reasons.
- Apple knows they will sell whatever they build.
- They've got people trained to upgrade.
- The Apple faithful say it's not about specs.
- They love the tiny display.
- Its the cool phone to be seen with.

And that's just for starters :)
+1 :D

1.-Not this time around. Too many tempting choices out now. If iPhone 5 is nothing more then a refreshed iPhone 4, apple's smart phone domination is OVER!
2.-we will see how fast people become "untrained" if we get a refreshed iPhone 4. Just read the posts in this thread.
3.- not sure what specs you are referring to, but the fact is that design sells just as many phones as hardware does. So if iPhone 5 was a refreshed iPhone 4, technically they would sell half as many phones (to current iPhone 4 users) then if they did a total redesign.
4.-who's "they"?..apple? If so, they only love what sells. And from the looks of things, consumers most wanted upgrade in iPhone 5 is a larger screen. And not some massive 4.5" screen...just something a little larger would satisfy most.
5.- could be the "not so cool" phone to be seen with if apple doesn't knock this one out of the park.

I personally think we are going to get a totally redesigned, beautiful, state of the art device that's going to be more exciting and game changing then the original iPhone was back in 07.

Since my wife are still using iPhone 3G we'll be upgrading this time around... Should have done it when the 4 came out... Oh well... We're so close now we're just going to wait...

Have to go along.

If the IPHONE 5 doesn't have a bigger screen there's going to be alot of unhappy campers.

This.

If Apple doesn't increase the screen to 4" then a lot of iPhone 4 users will look at Android. I want a 4" retina display and 64 GBs. That would be ideal until a 4G model is unveiled in 2012. If both those features aren't coming this fall then I'll probably hold onto my iPhone 4 for another year.

I am hoping the provide some word soon on what the 4s or 5 (whatever they're going to call it) will have. I plan to go check out the SII on the 18th and see if it's all what it has been hyped up as.

+1 I'll hold out for the 6, if no 5 has the same screen.

WHy wouldn't i upgrade? I can sell my iPhone 4 on Ebay for more than the $199 it cost for me to upgrade, so what is the downside to upgrading?

I have upgraded each year so far and have always been able to sell my existing iPhone for enough to cover the cost of upgrading.

I'm with you. Although not everyone gets to upgrade every year at the new contract price.

No. Need a bigger screen now. Had every iPhone since since the first reveal. 3.5 has my eyes hurting now.

Probably not, especially if they don't bump up the capacity to 64GB. Unlike the in the case of the iPhone 3G -> 3GS upgrade, iPhone 4 is already pretty fast, and it doesn't really have issues running the latest OS. I'm not willing to give up the jailbreakability of this phone (bootrom exploit) for something that won't function any better in day-to-day use...
