Happy to stick with my current 12.9" - it does everything I need it to and it's very fast.

This is one of the main things affecting tablet sales IMO - they're more like computers as far as upgrades go and they're mature enough now that an annual upgrade simply isn't needed

Just utilized the excellent target deal for $150 off a 9.7 as I had been waivering for a while before this pushed me over the edge.

It would really take a lot for me to upgrade and I still have 30 days to test this one and we shall see if we get an announcement before that to help decide.
Either way, I should have no problem selling mine if need be to get back what I paid if not a big chunk of it.

Extremely happy for the price I paid.
Glad to hear you did the same I did, it was truly a fantastic deal.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

Tried one (9.7) Pro out for a couple weeks and really liked it, and noticed a difference between that and the wife's Air 2 but figured I could (barely) wait to see what March brings. Paid full price, so may as well pay full price in a month and future proof myself for a year.

IMO, we'll see internal upgrades for probably the Pros, maybe the mini. That's why there are no rumors, as case size and everything else will be the same for March, but maybe the A10 and 3GB for the 9.7, and maybe the larger model gets the true tone and the processor bump.

That said, if they made a mini 5 and gave it the A9/A9x processor and ram upgrade, it may be a tough call.

I think the bezel-less 10.5 inch one (called Air 3?) gets unveiled the same time the Iphone does, or, just after, in the fall, which is where the conflicting reports come from. No way does the new Ipad design upstage the Iphone 6 months in advance.

If I'm wrong and March brings nothing for the Pro, maybe just get a refurb 9.7 Pro.

I know a few people have for a while been calling for Apple to bring a form of MacOs to the iPad, personally i don't think Apple will do that, just like i don't think they will do a touch screen Mac. I'm one of the people that's glad Apple haven't done a hybrid or a touch screen Mac. It's very clear that the iPad is for touch and the Mac is for more serious computing needs.

Personally if Apple bring out an iPad Pro 2 sometime this year (March or September maybe) i will upgrade from my current iPad Pro 12.9" mainly because i can give my iPad Pro to a family member, i want a 256GB version which wasn't available when Apple announced the 12.9" iPad Pro, i also want the True Tone display.

It will be interesting to see if a March event is announced, if new iPad's are not going to be announced until September i wonder if they will even do a March event? maybe they will for new iMac's and so on?

If I had a 12.9 inch maybe I'd want to upgrade. I don't see any purpose for upgrading for 9.7 owners. It'll be interesting to see if they arrive in march but if they don't there are going to be some disappointed people who waited for nothing.

That's true, 9.7" owners already have the 256GB option and the True Tone display. We will have to see, half of me thinks they will announce in March but the other half thinks September. If they are doing the same features as the new iPhones (reduced bezels, fingerprint reader in the display) then they won't want to announce the iPad's before the iPhone, so they could just do one big event in September like they did when they announced the iPad Pro 12.9" and the iPhone 6S, if not and they are an internal and display update, we may seem new iPad's in March.

I'm interested in the idea of this rumoured 10.9" iPad Pro, it's rumoured to have reduced bezels and fingerprint in the display, i wonder if that will be the same for the 12.9" and the 9.7" or if it's limited to just the 10.9" iPad Pro.

My 12.9 256GB iPad just raised its hand ;)
For me if IOS and developers don't do a better job optimizing for the 12.9 then I see no reason to upgrade. True tone is nice but won't help how crappy some stuff looks on my maxi-pad. My Surface Book's display is so much nicer. iTunes movies are much more sharp and look like the 9.7 pro for color depth. Cmon Apple.

Following the iPhone model, the 9 will probably be kept around unchanged, but at a lower price. So the 10 and 12 will get the new features.

That makes sense, after hearing rumours that Apple are planning to start production of he iPhone 8 earlier than normal (June) I'm wondering if we will see the iPad alongside the new iPhone's in June? It will be 10 years since the iPhone was launched by Steve Jobs in June, so there's a possibility.
[doublepost=1486572416][/doublepost]If this article is anything to go by we may be seeing the new iPads in March. This article says that inventory is low on the iPad Air 2

Every year a new iPad will release so not to fussed about buying a new iPad this year.

I have both iPad Pro (12.9 and 9.7)

12.9 is the fastest and most powerful iPad in the market for now.

9.7 is slightly slower, more portable with better display.

My wife uses the 9.7 model while I use the 12.9.

Both IPad Pros are jail broken for now with themes.

New IPad Pro will mean iOS Firmware which will not be jail broken anytime soon. Meaning stock iOS feel and boring.

May consider Pencil 2 if it is so much better than the first version.

Held off on getting the iPad Pro 12.9. The 256GB LTE model is practically never on sale and if I have to pay full price for my iPad, I'm just gonna wait until the new model is released. For now, the Pro 9.7 serves my needs although a bigger display would be quite nice for comics.

Not really upgrading though. I expect the Pro 9.7 will still be my carry everywhere iPad. Really more like supplementing.

I'll be upgrading from my iPad 3 so expecting to see a big difference when I do. Most likely go for the 9.7, 256 with WiFi and cell.

It will be a big upgrade from the iPad 3, my dad has an iPad 3 and when i upgrade to the iPad Pro 2 he is having my Pro.

I would wait if i was you, at the earliest we are looking at a March event, at the latest September or October. Personally i want the 256GB option along with the True Tone display and the better screen, other upgrades would be nice if they decide to add them. I really hope the rumour about Apple adding more pro software features is true (being able to annotate on the screen and within apps like Safari, messages and mail)

I own a 128GB 12.9" iPad Pro w/LTE. Of all of the rumored changes for the "pro 2": faster processor, better screen, better camera, more ram, more storage, etc..., none of them would materially impact the usefulness of my existing iPad Pro. The only changes that would meaningfully enhance how useful my iPad Pro is are software and OS improvements. While it is always possible that Apple will unveil something we haven't contemplated, it is likely that I will not upgrade at this time. And even though it isn't perfect, I use my iPad Pro every single day for work and for play, and love it.

The rumored Pencil 2 has me a bit concerned -- Apple has a history of releasing updates that only work with the newest devices. I hope we won't *need* to buy a Pro 2 to use the Pencil 2.

We usually hear about the lead up to a release event one or two weeks prior, so if mid march rolls around with nothing it will be April at the earliest.

Yea we will find out around the beginning to middle of March. There are current reports that iPads are in short supply at the moment, it could be that they are not making any more because of the new ones on the way OR it could be that they simply don't have enough at the moment.

Despite what I said, I couldn't turn down the sale Target has on the 9.7 so I got one of those.

Same here. I couldnt pass up such an awesome deal and expect the next announcement to be a dud so why wait?

Worst case scenario is sell it for what I bought it for if Apple makes significant, magical changes (they wont).

I have an iPad Pro 9.7 and mini 4. Right now I can't see any reason to upgrade. I definitely don't want anything bigger and don't care about the finger print reader in the display or lack of bezels. I usually upgrade every year so never say never on the iPad Pro, but rarely use the mini now so that won't be upgraded for sure.
