It looks like the "YES" people are ahead and this is even before we know what the 5S is going to be.:p

No doubt most will buy!

I don't get why people don't upgrade every year instead of waiting 2-3 years?? you can always sell your current iPhone on craigslist/ebay for $300-$600 and get the new one for around the same price, so you might even make money in the process ;)

If it has a bigger screen I will. If not I will wait to see the iPads that are released this fall. I have 1 line on my account open for an upgrade.

Good one, you come up with that on your own?

Yep! I worked very hard on it - thanks for your compliment!

Next time you need a witty comeback just ask me and I'll see what I can do. My rates are very reasonable!

I know we don't know much about it yet, but do you think you will upgrade to the 5s or whatever it may be called? If yes why, if no why?

No, for 2 reasons.

I'm thinking of buying a phone as a gift for my sister. But since my current iPhone doesn't have the refresh for TMobile, and I'm not even a year into my current contract (and therefore can't unlock it through ATT), I won't hand it down.

I'm hoping that the rumored cheaper iPhone is a good deal for her. An upgrade from an aging feature phone for her, she doesn't need as much storage as mine has, and I plan to buy that one outright unlocked so saving $100-200 (?) would be helpful.

I've been hanging on to my iPhone 4 waiting for the 5S to come out. I usually upgrade every two years but passed on the 5 last year, and although I have no issues with my 4, I'm sure it won't be long before IOS 7 or 8 will no longer work on it.

Ios 7 will work on it. iOS 8 probably won't though.

I probably will.

To be honest. I had the 3G then upgraded to the 4. Absolutely adored it.

The 4s didn't impress me in the slightest as an 'upgrade' but I got a cheap deal on a 12 month contract so got one.

Again the 5 didn't impress me. So I kept the 4s and then bought a nexus 4. Gorgeous phone. Absolute power house but I just could not get on with it. I sold it after a week and got a 5.

So while apple hasn't actually done anything innovative or impressive with their phones the past few year, IMO anyway, for me the alternatives just don't cut it.

So I have no doubt I'll stick with apple. I'll do what I always do and buy it when the jailbreak is released.

For me. It just works. It does everything I want once jailbroken and does is very well.

Whilst I'd love apple to release a game changer like the iPhone 4 or the original iPhone. I sadly think those days are long since past. But for now. I'm happy with apple and there's nothing to tempt me away.

Probably not, unless I see something in the 5S I can't live without. I won't pay $630 for a phone. My 5 does the job just fine. But if I were to get the 5S would my AppleCare+ that I just bought in February be transferable to the new device?

I'm still debating.

If the only significant upgrades are better camera and FPS, then I'm probably keeping my 5 and waiting for iPhone 6.

No.

Nothing of interest, and I'd rather give Apple time to sort out iOS 7.

By this time next year they are sure to have a more improved iPhone model.

The 5S is more of a placeholder to test out the fingerprint sensor and other little things they may include.

This will be the first year I do _not_ upgrade. I'm less than impressed with the small granular changes and iOS 7.

Perhaps by next year at this time, Apple will have caught up to Android and create a better model than the current flat featureless slab shaped design.

I am still happy with my iPhone 4 which is about 3 years old now. iOS 7 will run on it so no direct reason to upgrade.

However, if the 5S looks like an interesting update I'll consider.

So, still in doubt :)

I thought long and hard about this cause my wife recently dropped her 4s and cracked her screen. We could upgrade back in may but were going to wait until the new phone came out. Instead we both got new 5's. I've had every iPhone out and it's to a point where my phone does all I need it to do. Plus I want o buy when it's a major change (6?) not just a spec bump.

I'm not going to either I just picked up the 5 in great condition and I have to say the 5s will most likely be faster by a small margin, have some feature the 5 doesn't have and maybe come in a different color( if rumors are true) but the 5 is still a beast of a phone has great optics great screen and in my case great build quality ! And besides I have the htc one as well and that phone is a beast in its own right !! And I'm not sure about this whole finger print scanner that supposed to come to the 5s (rumor)

I just got the iPhone 5 a week ago, and I am perfectly happy with my decision. I'll upgrade when the iPhone 6 comes out.

I have an iPhone 5, so no. I don't think there is a reason too at this point. The 5 should be good for the next couple of years. I am not caught up in this whole I need to have a quad-core phone and all these other meaningless benchmarks on processors. Its still a phone after all, when is there a diminishing return with all these crazy specs that really don't translate to real world use?

I will be upgrading this fall, when my current contract is up. My launch day iPhone 4s' battery is getting a bit weak and inconsistent. The battery in my previous 3Gs also started to go south after 2 years of heavy use. I am also looking at switching carriers to save a bit of money, so it will be time to upgrade phones anyways.

As too which iPhone is the question. Since I'm looking at buying an unlocked version this time, the rumors of a lower priced model peaks my interest. It's really going to depend on the feature differences between a potential '5C' and '5S' model.

In what way is it deteriorating - hardware wise or performance wise?

As to whether I'd upgrade, it depends. Would need a double increase in battery life and a slow motion camera; they're my top two features.

Hardware. The display is starting to come unstuck on the bottom and my battery life is shortened, though I think iOS7 beta is to blame. With beta 5 it has gotten noticeably better. I doubt the Apple Store would replace it as the it has been without a case it's entire 11 month life and it shows.

Probably not.

iOS7 will keep my iPhone 5 busy, and I also just got a Galaxy S4.

Between the two, iPhone 5S would need to totally blow my mind for me to consider it, and I don't see that happening.
