If I used it in public I would probably get my asskicked/laughed at depending on the location. The only places I would use this is at home or in the car. Besides, I can picture a situation where I would want to send an inappropriate text to Yenissa (my girlfriend) and it got sent to Jenissa (my boss)...

I think SIRI will be useful based on the person. If you use it at home, an office, or in your car often then SIRI could be extremely useful. But, if you're in public a lot then the feature won't be very useful. It really depends on the person and their lifestyle.

Personally, being able to read/write text and emails in the car is huge. And, if the voice recognition works smoothly you can bet every other smartphone will try and copy it.

I most certainly plan on trying it out. Whether how much I like it, after testing it out, will decide if I continue using it.

I think there are definitely good reasons to have it. Does anybody know if it'll be available on the lockscreen? Or do you have to unlock and then get into it? That'd be kinda retarded.

I think I will definitely be using this a lot... and I don't mind talking to the phone in public... just put it up to your ear and it'll seem like you're just talking on the phone anyway...

The one thing I hope for is some kind of voice recognition lock, so if someone with an obviously different voice than mine tries to use it, it won't allow them to get my info...

I can imagine now... someone gets their phone stolen and the thief just asks the phone when the next vacation is scheduled and directions to 'home'.... could be bad news...

This is probably redundant but I am deaf myself. I would like to have a humble personal assistant on my iPhone ha!

Any thoughts on if I could use a text-based entry to interact with Siri instead of voice? Is it possible or completely out of the window?

I'll definitely use it.

i do a lot of cycling with my iPod, so i think Siri will come in very handy for me, as I'll be able to switch songs, send, read and reply to IMs, email, and place answer calls...all without placing my hands on the iPod (tucked away in the back of my cycling jersey).

They need to take that creepy robot girl voice off Siri and put Steve jobs voice on it "Stevie"
Me:weather today?
Stevie: phenomenal!
Me:awesome!
Me:I miss you Steve
Stevie:I'm always here for you..
Me:iThank you..

And yes I will be using it...

absolutely I am always getting texts at work, while I am driving so being able to respond to them asap is always better than having to wait where I can stop only to find out I had to go somewhere else.

I don't think I'll ever use it to respond to texts unless I'm driving. I figure it'll take longer to get the text out if I use voice commands to do it than it would if I was getting Siri to open and talking and all that. Plus, if you're going to be talk-texting, you might as well just call someone.

I think it has a lot of good uses, though. The alarm stuff is cool, setting reminders, doing basic math stuff is cool, too. A lot of cool stuff.

I really think I will, they've really made voice commands usable. I'll use the feature to remember to get stuff at places "Remind me to get deodorant when I go to Target" or do stuff "Remind me to sign my orders before I leave work" - you know, that kind of stuff.

I'll try it out and if it's good I will. Would love to ask it "Tell me today's tennis results" or something and see if it actually gives me it. :)

How will it know when you're going to leave work...

You'll be walking/driving away by the time it notifies you.

I think im gonna abuse siri , i will be that person that is sending messages and scheduling EVERYTHING while im on the road with siri :D

I really cant wait for the 4s to come out and start using it. I think a LOT of people are underestimating the power of the iphone 4s

yeah I can see your point but if I only need to send a short answer, I am not going to phone for 2-3 seconds to say it. :p

I don't think so dude ........

example ........ hold home button for a sec "tx theperipheral that I'll be be 15 minutes late"

Done, no way you could do it faster yourself, while driving, or just sitting on the toilet -

It is the future core of mobile device interfacing.

Everyone will use it or a copy of it in the next 10 years.

I'll definitely be using it. For some things it will certainly just be a "toy" that I mess around with and then never use it again after the first week. However, for managing appointments, setting up reminders, responding to and reading texts while driving - I'll definitely be making big use of it.

If it functions as well as it did in the demo and allows for speech to text conversations to happen, hell YES. I have a speech to text translator on my EVO that is about as accurate as an un-potty trained infant. My texting has definitely gone down since I switched to an all touchscreen phone, but I can see it picking back up if I can do it handless.
