Finally, I've actually always loved Winamp, it was the best media player on Windows period.. Even better then iTunes IMO..

The Beta interface isn't the best though, but as expected since its beta..

That's not true. You can add any folder you like as a watch folder.

downloaded it, and all though I like it, I don't like the fact it only finds music in your 'iTunes Music' folder. I don't keep my music in that folder, and my iTunes stuff is on a second HDD.

It would be nice if I can get it to see the whole 'iTunes Music Library.xml' file, which contains all of my music.

Don't think I'll be using this.

With Winamp coming to make, here's hoping that MediaMonkey might yet appear. I miss that program a lot, the only windows program I miss, it beats the pants off of iTunes in terms of playing and music management.

I used to love Winamp when i used Windows. Glad to see it here, especially for Android Mac folks

Well, yeah...WinAmp was the only option for me back in 2000, when I still used a crappy Acer laptop for work back then (and my Quadra 605 monitor burned due to voltage settings)...

I am absolutely NOT moving from iTunes to any other media management app...iTunes is perfect for me.

"Winamp is like the vinyl of the mp3 era."

Amen (for pre-aol versions)
+1 :)

So how is it for syncing to Android? I assume you don't really have to use it for much other than the sync itself and still use iTunes for creating playlists and otherwise managing music files?

Does it support syncing play count/date and ratings back from the android device (assuming android music player supports the same sort of ratings)?

And are there other Android music sync apps that really nail it as opposed to checking this one out? Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Does this release also include Winamp Lite? If not then what is the point? Still, it was the best mp3 player out there for quite some time.

It certainly not the winamp I use to know on windows. All it seems to do is import music from iTunes. No shoutcast/internet radio. Can't resize it smaller. Preferences only has like ONE option. It's the most lackluster software I've seen so far.

It is refreshing that the sense of humor is still there. Free Wi-Fi synching and it just reads off of my iTunes folder/playlists? Sign me up. I wanted to like DoubleTwist and Google Music so much but I never really did.

The main purpose of this is obviously android syncing. Anyone tried it for that, how well does that work?

I am syncing over wireless right now. It appears to write and store synced music to /music and create watch directory /Winamp on the device.

Not much else is going on. I will have more notes when I hit 100%. Though I suspect they will not be terribly interesting.

Thanks for the info. Once you're loaded, could you see if it syncs play count/date and ratings back from the android device? Thanks.

Downloaded it, "installed" it, ran it, clicked to import music from my Music folder, it shortly died. Now it dies on startup. Bummer.

I do not believe it goes that far into the details, yet. The sync died after about 20%. Keep in mind this is a Beta.
