I'm pretty sure the EFI partition is a set size (512mb). In the past I've seen backup programs that take snapshots of all the volme, not release the space on that volume properly (causing it to run out of space). I'd be curious to see/know what is on the volume for the folks where it is full.
Indeed, but its not a volume that we get direct access - at least not by default. I've never tried accessing it.
So I just read it's an issue for windows devices with 10mb of space remaining or less. So this issue is affecting .0000000001 percent of window users.

That's not entirely true. It's 10 MB on their EFI partition. Not the main partition. EFI partitions can be insanely small. Like 200 MB small. So this affects more people than you would think.
Because I have not seen wide spread issues of any windows system I have been around. Again, it's mostly fanboyism and tech influencer clickbait. Yes, of course there are issues. Apple has theirs, linux has theirs. NO different. Microsoft gets a unfair shake in the media imo.
To be fair, they kind of did it to themselves laying off tons of developers and replacing them with AI--with predictable results. Now they are backtracking and we will see what project K2 is like. I am hopeful, but it may take a while to get the ship turned around.
Oh I agree, but as I said, Most issues are sensationalism from the media. Apple have their issues with updates etc just as much but they dont get nailed to the cross every time.

I completely agree with all. They all deserve it. I am back on my linux machine since my windows laptop is dying and it won't start this morning. I had to put the ipad down. I hate typing on it.
The very design of Linux offers more attack vectors, given the openness. Just look at the two issues that came to light recently.
To be fair, it's usually easier to mitigate as well--such as disabling certain modules, but yes, it can be a double-edged sword.

Its not fully disabling copilot, so this script fully rips out AI from windows.
NextDNS has settings to block Windows telemetry as well, so that on top of OO Shutup10, Chris Titus' Windows Utility and whatever else you want to use blocks most of it. Not sure about ALL, but I think there's so many backdoors in Windows it doesn't matter how tight you lock the front door.
Oh no question, I've recommended both at times, though I will say that Chris Titus' utility has become fairly bloated over the years. Also, I had to reinstall windows because of his debloating and windows update. While its a technical marvel, its something that I avoid at this point
I only turn off things like Bing Search in the Start menu and the setting to switch some pointless services to manual with Titus. Other than that I don't touch anything. And yes, I agree, it's become a mess as of late.
It is annoying, but adding a PIN requirement for bitlocker mitigates the exploit (which we have on all DoD systems, I actually think we break WinRE with some of our STIG settings)
Yeah, but I was surprised to see what looks like a very simple exploit and one that seems to have already gone beyond a proof in concept.
That is interesting. I haven’t been required to use anything but a password or pin. Is it a Pro version thing?
