SnowLeopard2008, I'll be the guinea pig and try installing those Synaptics drivers on my late '07 MacBook.

Edit: Couldn't figure out how to apply the Synaptics driver to the trackpad after installing. Stuck with the default Boot Camp one for now.

Update: Got it installed under VMware. Seems to work fine although its not as fast as it would be using Bootcamp but its definitely usable.

EDIT: Aero doesn't work and its frozen on me. Meh....

whenever i download it, about halfway through the download, i get an error that saya the disk failed to mount. Has this happened to anybody?

Hey, I was wondering, I'm downloading the file right now for the beta, and I'm planning on installing through boot camp. What's the chance of having the beta mess up my computer when installing through boot camp and actually running it?

Hmm, not sure. I just read a thread about a guy who formatted his OS X partition during the Windows install... :D But honestly, the beta itself will do no harm to your computer.

Thanks! Sorry for making you the guinea pig, I'm just tired/sick/scared of installing Windows 7. I had to copy the x64 dvd onto Windows 7 (32-bit) partition, and rebuild it using these obscure instructions. And then borrow my dad's NTFS external HDD and copy the resulting ISO file to it. And then reboot to OS X and burn a new Windows 7 x64 disc. And reinstall. I had this "select cd-rom boot type" error when I tried booting off the x64 disc to install, which many people said to follow those obscure instructions.

Has Aero ever worked in a VM?

It's ok, I wanted to try some different drivers anyway. Sorry I couldn't get it to work. I'm running the 32-bit version.

So I am just making sure this is concurrent with most people: With Trillian and IE8 running on 7 64 bit, I am using 1.18GB of memory. I am using a MBP late 2008.

Also - does anyone know a way of getting Ctrl-Click to work for right click?

Can't get use to the two fingers on the scroll pad for right click!

I think this is the bootcamp driver issue.

Waiting for the updated driver from Apple.

is anyone having heating issues when starting win 7s on bootcamp? i've notice that my mac pro heats up a lot when im on win 7 but when i boot on leopard, it's not as hot?

also, im still new to bootcamp but it looks liek theres no tap to click when using windows. is this normal or would i have to fix something? any help would be appreciated.

Actually, Windows 7 is the best behaved Windows I've ever run. Heat wise, it's not hot at all on my lap. As far as I can tell, there's no tap to click.

Try installing the video drivers, and then go to personalize and select a theme to re-start aero. see if that helps.

I have problems with Aero where it'll go from nice blue to straight up black. Very annoying.

Heats up, your Mac Pro? Or did you mean MacBook Pro? I've been having issues installing Windows 7 on my Mac Pro. If it was your Mac Pro, what model do you have? I keep getting a hardware error or something right at the end of the install and so it won't complete. Any help would be appreciated! :):apple:

For those running bootcamp (not in a virtual machine) and can't figure out how to enable Aero, the trick is you need to run the Windows Experience Rating (WER) first. By default it gives your graphics card a 1.0 score and disables Aero because of that low score. Bootcamp drivers + WER = Aero automatically enabled.

^
WER was one of the first things I did so that explains why I didn't have the problem with Aero that many others are having.

I'm on Windows 7 right now. Everything except Bluetooth and Audio is working perfectly. Bluetooh is recognized, but doesn't pair with any devices?

When it finds them in the bluetooth sync window, right click on the items icon and choose properties you will see a secondary box that you have to tick for Human Input Devices. Put a tick next to that box and your device will install and stay synced. :)

I just installed Windows 7 on my Unibody MacBook Pro, everything works great except Windows 7 no longer detects my DVD-Rom (the DVD-Rom works fine under Mac though). I tried reinstalling the BootCamp drivers software from the Apple site with no luck. Anyone know how to fix this issue?
