I got the same problem, and can't find solvation for 2 years :(
It work well in bootcamp, but not working on EFI installation.
In opposite main problem of bootcamp is file corruption if you jump from win to mac and back friquently. Hybrid GPT/MBR is awfull :(

This thread is so old. Maybe start a new thread with current window 8.1 (windows 10 is right around the corner)

But for what it is worth using the most current bootcamp drivers no matter how you install seems to resolve most sound issues.

Is there any update lately?

I have 2011 macbook pro, I don't really care about sound, using usb audio is fine for me, but using the dedicated gpu is importontant.

The dGPU is always active in MBPs with a dGPU, in Boot Camp.

Thank you, but I already knew that.
EFI mode would be better for me, because this was I can install windows from USB drive and I wouldn't have to install back the dvd drive if I need to reinstall windows. (I have optibay)

And in EFI mode AHCI mode works, too.

But if there is no solution for the dedicated gpu driver, I will stay with bootcamp.

EFI mode will not work properly with Ivy Bridge and earlier (early-2013 and earlier) Macs, because they don't support UEFI 2.0

Only Haswell and later Macs support UEFI 2.0.

On a side note, Boot Camp installs Windows in UEFI mode on Haswell and later Macs.

This simple explanation needs to be Stickied in this forum, it is the answer to MANY peoples problems! :)

Finally , I tried every possible method / driver / trick without any help , and read that this is an Efi issue .
all I need is ( AHCI enabled + Sleep working + Sound ) is there is any solution for such this problem even in future ?

I'm having the very same problem with Windows 8.1 x64 as well as Windows 7 x64 on an iMac 2011. I patched using bootcode.bin in order to enable AHCI in the bios-emulation running Windows within Bootcamp.
AHCI is working fine now but after sleep mode the system doesn't come up properly. It needs a hard reboot then.

Any idea how to fix this?

Ab EFI-based installation of Windows on an iMac 2011 is not an option as there is no sound.

Ivy Bridge and earlier Macs do not support the UEFI 2.0 standard, so any attempts to install Windows in UEFI will fail with various results.

It's not that simple. Some of us with cheesegrater Mac Pros have installed Windows 8.1 EFI just fine. In my case, it's a 2010 model with a Nehalem CPU--that's four generations older than Haswell and a really old EFI.

Did you guys face any driver issues? If you didn't, then that's because you guys probably didn't have a Cirrus controller inside.

Sad thing is that practically all the pre-Haswell consumer-oriented Macs with EFI 1.1 had the Cirrus controller.

No problems. I'm not sure what the Cirrus controller is, sound? If so, mine uses Realtek, so that could be it. Until now I had assumed that the difference was the video card, since in the classic Mac Pro we can drop in video cards with PC-based firmware.

Audio's one of them. I'm not sure whether any other controllers are also Cirrus or not.

If it's only audio, could you just add a USB sound device? I wouldn't want that on a laptop of course, but tucked away on an iMac or Mini would be okay.

My 2012 5,1 12core loaded 8.1 Pro in EFI mode perfectly. I'm using the PC realtek hd sound driver r2.75, and newest PC nvidia drivers. Rest of drivers are from bootcamp 5.1

Surrat, did you not get a black screen when installing the NVIDIA driver for your GTX680ME in Windows when in EFI mode?

No, when I boot up win81 or 10, the swirly thing comes on, then the screen goes black for about 15 seconds, then comes back on with normal video and running fine. I think what causes that is windows boots up using the generic EFI video access mode, then switches to the video driver, causing the black screen while it changes mode. Just a guess tho.
[doublepost=1456875911][/doublepost]Now, I DID get a black screen when I tested an nvidia gtx 770 in my mac pro, this was an unflashed pc card, and windows 81 was in efi mode. That did not work, because the card was pc, I think the driver expected an efi card, and when there wasnt one, it got stuck. If I run windows 81 in normal bootcamp mode, not efi, then the pc card WILL work. The EVGA 680 mac edition official card works properly in win81 and 10, with no black screen freezes.

Hmm. Could there be a difference between a flashed EVGA GTX680 and a genuine EVGA GTX680 Mac Edition then?
I wonder if there is something not quite right in EFI on a flashed card.

I do get boot screens, etc so card is definitely somewhat EFI!
