Has anyone else gotten this error when trying to move the files to usb in boot camp? Can someone help? I've tried with two different flash drives and it does not want to work.
Thanks

Your creating the USB drive incorrectly as it's thinking you want to install a windows 7, not 8.
You need to use the windows 7 USB iso tool but you will need to used a windows PC to create it in the first place. You can probs make it another way via Mac OSx but not sure how.

Some pictures.

Runs nicely with all drivers working I believe. Nice OS but lots of work still needed.

Note - I used a second computer running Windows to create the bootable flash drive and to copy the contents of the .iso to the flash drive. I then used Bootcamp to partition my Air's SSD, of course. Finally, I used the program, Refit, to boot from the drive and install Windows onto the Bootcamp partition.

As some previous posts have mentioned, you can run Bootcamp software, to install drivers, by running in compatibility mode (right click icon, select "Troubleshoot compatibility," select Windows 7).

How fast does Windows 8 boot on the MBA with the SSD? Considering its like 16 seconds on a typical platter drive it must be instant on the SSD.

What error message?

If you try the last link I posted, it has links on the page for the software/drivers to run and with those files, I never had to run it in compatibility mode and it perfectly worked!

I did do a fresh install prior to doing what it said so maybe you could try that.

Is the developer preview a full working version of Windows? As in I can install Windows programs onto this and have them work (more or less) the same as Windows 7?

It is a full working version but obviously it's meant for developers so expect it to be buggy. I've not found one program which won't install yet which I had on my Win 7 installation

I'm at the Windows 8 installation window and it says it can't find the drivers for my computer. I tried a rescan but nothing. Any ideas?

Im slightly biased as im in love with Metro but i think that photo of the Air running Win 8 looks beautiful

Can anyone help me with this step? Its stopped me every time and for the life of me I can't figure out what to do next.

It's because it doesn't work properly with the way you have done it. Its really easy to get working through bootcamp

I get the same error when I tried through bootcamp. This is actually the third way I've tried it and its the same error.

Well I am using 2010 MBA but there are a slew of How To's on the net about it working on the 2010 model.

I have no clue because as from what I read, people, had he issue with drivers after installation.

When you try to install, do you do a fresh install via selecting the partition you want it on yourself or do you upgrade?

I don't even get to the point of choosing the location. I get the "Install windows button" and then it gives me this error message and the opportunity to locate drivers. I don't even know what drivers it wants! It seems to want CD/DVD drivers?

I've tried installing it through Bootcamp under a clean partition, VMWare 4, and even my Windows desktop running Windows 7, and all of them get the same error.

Did you ever install windows 7 on it?
If it does the same for windows 7, you could call Microsoft, or even Apple and find out what the issue is.

I don't really know what else you can do!

I installed Windows 8 in a Virtual Box on my 2011 11" MBA. It seems to work well enough—a little sluggish, but that's probably mostly because I only allowed it about 1.5 GB of RAM. Sound and WiFi work, as do the mouse and keyboard, but I haven't looked into much else in depth. I must say the interface is rather nice.

I noticed the fan running pretty hard when I was using Windows—should I be worried about that? I still haven't used it for more than maybe 10 minutes at a time, it's more of a novelty than anything else.

What size is your ISO? It should be ~3GB. If it's smaller, that may be your issue. The one I downloaded with Chrome on my MBA was only 500mb and gave me the same error. I didn't notice that it wasn't the right size until I compared it with the one downloaded from my PC (also in Chrome) which was 3.03gb. (Both downloaded from MS Developer site.) Tried again with that one & it worked fine.

The reason I mention Chrome is that I read somewhere that others were having the same problem when using Chrome on a Mac to download the ISO. So, you may want to try the download again using Safari or another browser.

The weird thing is that the 500mb ISO appeared to be fine (mounted fine, expected file structure & files, etc.).

Nice pics, although they remind me a bit of the Wii home screen.
