You know who will fall for that? People who fell for the iPad in the first place.

What makes you think that? Surely anyone with enough brains to spend $499 on a useful device instead of $299 on a useless netbook wouldn't fall for an obvious scam like that.

On a crappy netbook you might fall for a message in crappy English. An iPod user would take one look and say "surely this message cannot be sent by Apple".

I don't see why a netbook is useless. I was waiting for an iPad as something to do more than my iPhone, like be able to run multiple apps and command-tab between them, as well as having a (user-accessible) file system. A clip-on screen for iPhone would've been better than the iPad.

A netbook can run OS X, the iPad can't. I don't need 2 iPhones - one that fits in my pocket and the other that doesn't (iPad), but an Apple netbook running Mac OS X would have been awesome.

That said, I wouldn't say that people "fall for iPad", but the claims that it is a replacement for a laptop are ridiculous - even for the utmost of consumer tasks like websurfing where you want to instantly click between windows, not change window in mobile safari and wait for the page to painfully reload.

So tell us Windows fan boys, why did this happen?

They're not targeting iPad. They're targeting Windows, just like the other 99.999993% of malware. It's been made perfectly clear that the malware doesn't go anywhere near the iPad. Mention of iPad is just the coercion/social engineering tactic to infect the Windows machine, just like porn codecs.

iPad is the "porn codec" in this scenario, not the victim computer.
