Running on a 2011 MBP. Windows 10 Build 10130 runs so much better than previous build. Microsoft has been tinkering with the UI and has made it so much better (Including the Notification Center. GOD was it ugly Pre-10130). The only problem is that BootCamp keyboard (Keyboard light, sound) shortcuts aren't working.

Today, I opened up my PC and, as it turns out, windows 10 reminder auto installed on my Windows 7 PC (the dying one) :( and, showed up on my system tray icons! On the bright side, I was able to disable the notifications!

I agree its the best build so far. Having lost the Bootcamp keyboard functionality once before, I plan to reinstall the Bootcamp drivers as that fixed it last time.

Let me know how it goes!

Wasn't the most fun I've ever had. The Apple keyboard shortcuts are working again. However, to get to this point I first ran the Bootcamp "Repair" installation then rebooted. That managed to knock out the wireless completely, as if I had no wireless adapter. Looking in Control Panel "Programs and Features", it looks like the Apple Bootcamp installer installs a long list of drivers, some that match the hardware but others that don't.

I cleaned up as best I could by removing individual entries one at at time...ZZZzzz...reboot, reinstall Bootcamp drivers again, reboot again and all is OK-ish.

After every reboot the keyboard and screen brightnesses revert to "supernova" brightness but that's a minor niggle. I'd much rather Apple or someone solved the relatively poor battery life under Windows... There's no sign of the Intel graphics chip in Device Manager so I wonder if the laptop is running on discrete graphics the whole time.

With the latest releases of Windows 10 i cannot run my 4k monitor (dell up2414q) anymore. Anyone with same issue?

So I read Windows 10 will be free to all Preview users? Nice!
Are we going to get the full version (not Oem) with unique keys?

Can't help I'm afraid. I have a DEll U2515h that runs at 2560x1440. Under Bootcamp Windows 10 some apps looked truly awful - font scaling all over the place. Due to this and other issues (hanging on reboot from OS X, flaky multi monitor support etc) I trashed my Bootcam Win10 partition.
Running Windows 10 under VMWare Fusion is full screen however is flawless...go figure!

I'm running Windows 10 10074 with Parallels and I have a completely non-working start menu. I can make it work again by reverting to an earlier snapshot but it stops working again as soon as any updates take place. Upgrading to 10130 didn't cure the problem.

I'm also getting a message saying I must restart the computer and do I want to postpone the restart. The only option given is to postpone!

The inability to stop automatic updates is ridiculous. I'm using satellite Internet with a 30Gb/month daytime cap. I don't need unnecessary updates.

You can set network connections as 'metered' Windows will then not use them for automatic downloads.

Welp, after a month of suffering through what has been the most unstable Windows beta I've ever used, MS sends down two new builds in as many days. Yesterday, I got 10158, which was 10130, but with a lot of polish applied, and not janky. Now I'm downloading build 10159. Let's see what it does.

It's up to 10162 now. You might want to try that too.

They are coming out faster now because all the internal builds now qualify for release to the insiders program.

They won't actually release all of them though because they want to give enough time for feedback. (This is why 10160 and 10161 were skipped)

Yup. I upgraded to 162 just the day before. The new Universal Apps, which have been the direct cause of 99% of my stability problems with the previous builds, are now pretty solid, and most of the random little issues I've had with the new Start menu have been almost (but not quite) cleared up.

Oh, and it's the first version of Windows since Vista that has a decent looking small icon taskbar. Well, other than the clock being offcentered, but that's being real nitpicky.

...still bothers me, though.

I'd say it's still a release or two away from being RTM quality, but it's close. Very close.

I have Windows 10 in two separate VM's. One is at home on my Mac in VMware Fusion 7, and the other is at work on my server's in VMware VSphere.

The VM at home is on the slower update path and is at Build 10130, and the VM at work is on the fast upgrade path and is at 10162.

I was using both to perform some work on my server's remotely few days ago and both versions performed great. The set up was using the MacBook Pro, VMware 7, Windows 10 (10130) RDC to remote VM with Windows 10 (10162) via OS X IPSec VPN and then on to the servers in Windows Server 2012 R2 and so on.

One weird thing I noticed the other day was the Windows Task Bar on my local VM would sit atop the Task Bar of the remote VM when in Windows RDC. It took a couple of minutes and some clicking around to get the appropriate Task Bar to appear. I'm not sure if its a Windows 10 thing or a VMware 7 thing. There was an update to Fusion recently and I updated to version 7.1.2. I have to click on the Task Bar, which is the local VM's, then click the Desktop, which is the remote VM's, before the remote VM's Task Bar appears.

Upgraded to 10162 as well, although, I didn't realize it earlier.

Each upgrade requires about 6-7 GB of free space to store most of those things, from current build, and from previous build. Otherwise installation will fail.

MBA has very poor base performance on running VMware so I end up installing Boot Camp.

Each time I upgrade a build, I will need to reinstall all drivers I need to bring back most things online, such as HFS+ r/w.

I've just done a clean install of 10162 and I have to say I'm very impressed. It looks fantastic on an rMBP, is really fast and it's clear that we're really close to the final version.

Automatic updates...I gather that MS made it impossible to switch these off so that beta users would always have the latest version. I hope they allow updates to be switched off or manually updated in the final release.

Flipboard looks stunning! Why isn't there an OS X version?

The last time I fired up my vm, a few days ago, I noticed my Start button no longer responds as well as the search bar next to it. I have to use Fusion to send a ctrl+alt+del command to shut it down. This is on 10130.

This build has a little bit too many issues. One I remember is an explorer error window when every time restarting or shutting down Windows.

Yup. That was a common problem in 10130 and earlier revs. The only way I was able to fix it was by using the Reset This PC option in Settings/Updates and Security/Recovery, and wiping everything back to a fresh install. Even after doing that, it didn't always behave itself.

Fortunately, it's been fixed for later revs. The only problems I have now are some tiles still occasionally get cut in half on the Start menu, and opening a downloaded file directly from Edge can sometimes make Explorer go wonky (which is an improvement from WILL make it go wonky, so progress has been made).

I will have to get it updated then to a later rev. Probably will change it to the faster update cycle to do it.
