I'm just back from my local off licence; my (replenished) beer supplies (German - Weihenstephaner, several different varieties, and some Belgian classics - Trappistes Rochefort and Westmalle, plus a few bottles of a local red ale) shall be delivered tomorrow.

I have no idea.

I simply make suggestions, - happily, other consumers/customers also purchase them - and he tries to seek them out.

Now, he also stocks the obvious stuff that sells well, but likes the idea that he also stocks some of the good stuff.

Tonight, I also bought a bottle of Chablis (which will be delivered tomorrow), but decided - with reluctance - to forego a bottle of rather good Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Yes, it is.

Now, while I had considered it, I didn't actually take any of the beer home with me (such as two or so bottles in my rucksack), and half regretted it, as I am out of beer until tomorrow's delivery.

My beer (several bottles of Weihenstephaner Helles, Weihenstephaner Kristall Weissbier, Weihenstephaner Weissbier, and Weihenstephaner Korbinian, as well as several bottles of Trappistes Rochefort, and several bottles of Westmalle Dubbel) has been delivered.

I enjoyed Dr. Gab's Houleuse blanche (weiss) and La Chouffe blonde - just what refreshment needed with a warm and muggy weekend.

I've never had the pleasure of sampling anything by Dr. Gab, (never even hard of it, to be honest), however, I am more than partial to anything (and everything) from the excellent Achouffe brewery (their beer glasses are gorgeous, as well).

Sipping a glass of La Chouffe blonde is a wonderful way to pass a week-end afternoon.

Dr. Gab's is a local brewery from the canton of Vaud in Switzerland (Doctor Gabs ) between the towns of Lausanne and Vevey. Actually near the famous vineyards of Lavaux designated as a World Heritage site by UNESCO.

I don’t mind that character actually because I don’t get as bloated and belchy as I would with a more effervescent style. I do recall the last time I had it on tap (a German/bavarian taproom that did not survive COVID unfortunately) it was a bit more bubbly. The cans are definitely as you describe though.

Currently enjoying a beer barley wine with dates and balsamic vinegar from one of my favourite German "**** the Reinheitsgebot" breweries (they also have some very fine barrel-aged Bock beer, among others). It is surprisingly malty.

Wasn't aware that the Germans did barley wines; fascinating.

Now, a good (barrel-aged) bock beer would very much meet with my approval.

When adding a bottle of Chablis to a shopping basket earlier today, I decided to forego purchasing a bottle of Gigondas (in essence, the younger sibling, or kid brother, of Chateauneuf-du-Pape), and now, as is the mad way of life, find myself regretting my decision.
