I am so glad to go home haha.

Ohio's got nothing on Texas.

I'll probably be surfing when I can and then I have to roadtrip back up to Ohio right after Christmas. I've got a month of vacation, but the track team is going to Florida for Spring Training. We're a Division III school and we're racing a Division I school haha, we're going to get killed.

Surfing whilst on winter break- sounds odd to someone from up north. :)

Good luck on your meet- I hate going against teams like that in swimming. :)

You swam/swim?

Doesn't everyone?

Swimming is cool. I don't know anyone who can't swim.

Oh, you mean competitively?
Cause then that's me out. I could beat some people back in school but not everyone. Then again, nobody gives a rat's arse about High School/Uni sports here. You want a crowd to watch you play? The it's the state or national team for you young man.

I'm always amazed to see these colleges and high schools in the US with 20000+ seat stadiums. Even if our 1st XV Rugby team were playing Sydney Uni's 1st XV Rugby team you'd be kidding yourself if you thought any more than 100 people were going to turn up. And high School sports? Pfft! Fugghedabowdit....

Haha yeah that is an interesting perspective. Living in Germany it was about the same with High School sports. Not really any to speak of.

I went to an Ohio St. football game this year and there were over 100,000 people in the crowd. The noise and atmosphere was absolutely unreal. It's scary to think that some college teams are more popular than pro teams.

I wonder why there's such a difference between the way Americans and the rest of the world approaches sports.

Yes, I am on the swim team at college.

What college do you go to?

If you're in PA you might know Denison University. It's in Granville OH. That's where I go to college.

My break starts this Wednesday. We only get like 2 weeks. yay, but I think we should get more.

You should get at least 3 weeks off from school.

Oh well, I guess that they figure enough damage is done via forgetting of relevant academic information in 2 weeks- why go longer. ;) :)

I get 3 weeks off for Winter break. One week for Spring break. And from June 10 to September 24'ish for Summer break. Of course I had my official last Summer break Last Summer as I will be graduating June 2006. My god, 6 years as a student. Almost reached "Professional Student" status :D

Honestly, I think that our 10 week quarters are a bit to short and our summer break is a bit to long. We start school right as the weather is changing to rain forecasts. I'm probably the only student at Western who wishes that quarters were longer.
