try a razor mouse they're really good for gaming/digital art/editing etc.
if not for gaming and that stuff its good in general

try the deathadder or the lachesis. they're really good. im buying the death adder myself.

the Mx Revolution is awesome, it might not have a 360 scroll wheel but you can scroll side ways anyway. My experience is that the Mx Revolution is far better as the mighty mouse if you look at ergonomics and specs.

To clean the scroll ball, turn the mouse upside down and scrub the scroll ball on some paper, find thats the best trick, for the clicks, try not to have your fingers on both the left and right side of the mouse when clicking, think it confuses it, does with mine.... 🙄

Another way of cleaning that an Apple Genius showed me, pour a little rubbing alcohol in your palm, then turn the mouse over and rotate it in circles so you are covering the scroll ball with the alcohol and moving it in all directions. This seems to work great; the scroll ball not working appears to be from dirt / grease buildup.

Also looking for a new wired mouse

I'm also looking for a new mouse. Never could get used to the Mighty Mouse, as great as it looked. Right now I'm using an old, trusty reliable Microsoft USB Optical (2 buttons and a scroll wheel), very barebones. I'd really like to upgrade to a nicer one, though. Can anyone recommend me a mouse with:

1) A nice design/color scheme that goes along with the aluminum iMac and keyboard? I like the button layout/shape of the Logitech MX 518 and G5, but I find the spotted design to be kind of ugly and ill-matched. Preferably one in solid black, white or silver.

2) Preferably symmetrical or left-handed. This knocks out probably half my options right there. Sleeker stuff is better.

3) More buttons than the one I already have (2 buttons, 1 for the scroll wheel)

4) I game sometimes on the Boot Camp side, so I was thinking of trying a "new-fangled" laser mouse, but this is not essential.

5) But I do strictly want a wired, USB mouse, I will always use this mouse on a desktop and don't want to switch out batteries or recharge the mouse every few days.

It seems most of the nicer models today are bluetooth or wireless, and have crazy shapes with ugly design. If only the Mighty Mouse didn't have its ridiculous issues (horrible right click design and the ball, while great, gets gummed up so fast)...

Try Razer.

Another week or two...

I too have had it with the Mighty Mouse. This thing requires more maintenance than a vintage Jaguar, just to keep the scrollbar working. I love Apple products, but objectively speaking this mouse is a piece of junk.

I've been searching around, and the reviews for the new Logitech MX1100 have been over the top:

Apparently it will be out before the end of the month, and I'm looking forward to going in that direction. It really does sound great, and for the amount of time we spend using these things it makes sense to go top of the line.

I bought a Microsoft Laser Mouse 8000 about a year ago. It's an expensive mouse (I got it for $60 Canadian plus tax), but it's nearly perfect. It's very comfortable, quite precise, and it doesn't need a receiver dongle for most Macs because it uses Bluetooth. It comes with a single NiMH battery, a charging dock, and a Bluetooth receiver for computers that don't have built-in Bluetooth.

I highly recommend this mouse 🙂

I recommend either the Logitech VX Revolution or the MX Revolution. On a desktop, get the MX. Both mice are incredibly sleek looking and comfortable. You can map the side buttons to 'Back' and 'Forward' in Safari, and the mousewheel can scroll up and down, and left and right. You can also turn off the friction on the mousewheel so you can scroll really really fast through documents if you want to .

Which one? The DeathAdder for Mac is right-handed. But I think the Razers are a little overkill for me, especially with all the lights on them.

I actually like the MS Laser Mouse 8000's look and buttons, but it's Bluetooth wireless, which incurs additional expense and charging time.

Which one depends on what grip you use. For palm grip I recommend DeathAdder or Lachesis, for claw - either Copperhead or Diamondback, for finger - Lachesis.

And you don't have to get the Mac version to make it work. Just install USB Overdrive and set all those parameters on any mouse.
