Greetings to everyone.

I have a Homepod pair set up as the default audio output of an Apple TV 4K. All is working well and I dont have lip sync or lag issues, but I read in another thread in reddit that doing the wireless audio sync for each framerate also gives you a louder, rounder, more tridimensional sound.

Should I do it?

I did it and it has removed some lag although still not perfect.
Went through all 3 display options as I have dolby vision and dolby atmos TV.
Is there anything else that we need to do, enable in Tv settings to minimise the audio lag?
i have turned the audio delay option off in TV options as it was saying to turn it off if done elsewhere.

I never needed to do this. Never have any lag at all with the Homepods and the Apple TV. Make sure that you have disabled all the post processing in the TV settings, like motion interpolation (ie, Trumotion, Motionflow....)

Oh, I have motion processing enabled as Movie. Should i turn that off and recalibrate?

Turn that completely off (and the rest of the unnecesary picture processing such as dynamic contrast, noise reduction...) , and then reset the audio and video settings of the apple tv. Then reconfigure the video settings correctly (4K SDR 50HZ -or 60hz if you are from the U.S-, YCBCR with Chroma 4.4.4 and enable frame rate and dynamic range matching), but dont touch the audio, dont do the calibration this time. Shouldnt be necessary with the homepods.

Then pair them with the apple tv, and test again (if they are already paired, unpair and repair). Lip sync should be perfect.

So this is turned on Movie. Should I turn it off ( see attached).
I am in the UK and my TV supports up to 120Hz. Should I have SDR set as 50 or 60Hz?
Since i already did calibration, should i leave it out this time??

Also please if you can check the section 1 of the attached pdf, i followed those settings for picture and i think i didn't select unnecessary picture processing?
Thank you for your help.

Put it to off. If you are in the UK, set the Apple TV to 4K SDR 50hz, YCBCR 4:4:4, an enable match range and framerate.

Yeah, turn perfect contrast to off, perfect natural motion to off, perfect clear motion off (or trumotion is your tv is an LG). The rest are already off, as I can see. Then reset the audio and video settings of the Apple TV (this will erase the calibration), and set the video settings of the apple tv as I have told you. Dont touch the audio settings and retest the Homepods.

The reason to disable this post processing settings, besides preserving the picture integrity, is to reduce input lag as much as possible, which can affect things like wireless audio.

I have attached pictures of the manual. For the picture.
What would you turn off in this example or modify?
Thank you for your help.

The audio settings does not matter when using the Homepods with the Apple TV 4K. Just make sure that the TV is not adding any audio delay (turn that off).

I have attached pictures of the manual. For the picture.

AI picture mode: off.

The most accurate picture mode for SDR and HDR10 is Filmmaker mode. For Dolby Vision, is Dolby Vision Dark. If you find the Filmmaker mode too dark for SDR content, you can increase the backlight (oled light if you have an oled), but dont touch anything else.

Then, check the following advanced settings are disabled in each mode.

Picture clean (noise reduction) off. MPEG artifact reduction off. Ultra resolution off. Colour enhancement off. Colour gamut normal (if applicable).

Light boost off. Perfect natural reality off. Motion styles off. Fast motion clarity off.

That´s it. You may be want to double check the settings when watching something in HDR10 AND Dolby Vision, since in many TV this two modes have independent settings.

Then reset the video settings of the Apple TV, configure it like I said in my previous posts, and test it again with the Homepods.

Please, let me know.

Do you have a pair of Minis or original Hompods?.

Do you have the first generation apple tv 4k or the new model?

I hope this are not very confusing indications for you, its difficult to explain this without been in front of the TV.

Hey.
Thank you for your help B/D.
I have applied all the settings you mentioned, did colour calibration and wireless sync calibration in the end for all 3 50 Hz modes (SDR, HDR, Dolby).
No lag. :D
Btw, is the Game mode recommended as picture style when playing Arcade games or should I leave it in Filmmaker mode??

Great!. Did you enabled frame rate matching and dynamic range matching in the apple tv settings?. Very important.

Filmmmaker mode is more accurate picture wise, so if you don´t notice any lag while gaming leave it in that mode.

Here, Enable HDMI sound device (HDMI CEC) and EARC in your tv settings, as says in the manual page about audio (the first one) that you attached to me.

After that enable MUTICHANNEL BYPASS in the sound output settings.

Thats it. Before that, make sure that you have enabled earc and HDMI sound device (CEC), in your TV settings as well.

Is this for the HDMI port where apple TV is connected (HDMI 2 - earc?)
So for connected Bluray player (HDMI 3-arc) I disable arc, and what about other audio settings in HDMI 3?
Sorry, but just need to clarify that...

Correct. Apply the settings only on the Apple TV HDMI input.

Disable arc in the HDMI 3. Dont touch any more audio settings there.

Thank you.
will give it a go and let you know.
probably next Tuesday ad TV will get replaced.
Ambilight function not working 🥴
