Still have a hard time Apple would wait all this time and delay JUST for a standard Qi charger. They’ve got something new going on. Even if it’s not far field charging, but it’s something.
Correct. There’s no way it’s using something as ubiquitous as Qi. When the story doesn’t make sense (and this doesn’t), then we’re missing some info somewhere.Still have a hard time Apple would wait all this time and delay JUST for a standard Qi charger. Yeah my guess is the iPhone, though Apple is part of the wireless consortium, will have some combination of hardware and/or software that makes the current, cheaper, QI chargers either completely useless, or basically useless (super slow) forcing people into a Lightning cable-powered charger or something else proprietary.Correct. I like the idea of wireless charging on the iPhone, but don't see a huge difference in placing on a charging dock vs plugging in a charger. Either way you're still relying on a cable and have to keep your iPhone in one place. I wouldn't pay much extra for this feature.

If it's not long range I don't really see a point in the wireless charging :-(
Delay the product, so the cost of the charger and cost of iPhone don't stack and seems less painful. Therefore, more people buy? lol
I bet it will be $99, look at the cost of the Apple Watch dock.
You know this... how?A trillion dollar company does not think like this.
There is no wire connecting the charger to the phone. Stop calling it wired. This is not wireless charging, it is inductive charging and it still has wires. Stop calling it wireless.
There are no trillion dollar companies. This is how a 3/4 trillion dollar company thinks.A trillion dollar company does not think like this.

It's not thin enough! What exactly is there to delay the release? This technology has been around for years.
Look behind your WiFi router. I'll bet you $10 you find a wire back there...It still has a physical connection. This is wireless charging http://appleinsider.com/articles/17...-wi-fi-routers-other-communications-equipment
Ask 100 general tech enthusiasts whether placing their phone on a charging pad to juice it up constitutes wireless charging. I'd wager at least 90 say "yes" and that's being generous. Quit splicing hairs. It still has a physical connection. This is wireless charging http://appleinsider.com/articles/17...-wi-fi-routers-other-communications-equipment
This seems like a gimmick. I hope I'm wrong though.
Why not? They only got to being worth what they are by smart business decisions. Most companies would realize releasing multiple expensive products at the same time would cannibalize some sales. Apple hasn't released an iPhone and iPad at the same time. They usually release the iPad 1-2 months after the September event.A trillion dollar company does not think like this.
In a tweet shared this evening, Gruber says he's heard that the inductive charging accessory will be sold separately . . .
