For me, I agree the dinner is history after a couple of hours. I'm not an audiophile for sure, but when you get a really decent pair of earbuds there's no going back. That's why I gave my Bluebuds to my daughter. Don't get me wrong, the Bluebuds are really nice for wireless but I tried a higher end wired pair and the sound quality is so much better - no going back for me. Every time I use them, I always appreciate the details in the sound quality.

But if you have a cheaper pair that fits well and gives you the quality of sound that you are happy with - so be it. We all have different expectations and budgets to work within.

Different strokes ...... The wires are a show stopper for me. I would stop listening to music if I had to tether to my phone and deal with dangling wires that are in my way at my every move.

That's my problem. I now need to replace my Apple earbuds because the wire is damaged from being in my pocket all of the time. I was probably bent back and forth to many times. Plus it gets in my way sometimes. That pulls it out of my ears. And there was one time when the buds fell out and got caught in my bike wheel. You can image what that looked like.

I agree that the wires are a drag but until they come out with similar audio quality in wireless, I'll stick to my wired ones.
Also annoying to watch a movie and have the voices and lips not in sync.

I remember hearing about some wireless earbuds causing the sync problem. That would irritate me greatly but I've never experienced it as I don't watch movies on my phone.

I watch movies on the iPad and the Bluetooth earbuds have had this issue. I don't know if all of them do it. But both wireless earbuds and headphones had the problem.

For everyday use (gym and chores, would rather use wired where I can of course), Powerbeats2 sound great and work more seamlessly than any other wireless I have used for extended periods of time (~1 year). Below I am naming only noticeable pros and cons I had found, some things just worked as expected but were nothing spectacular such as phone calls.
  • Jaybird X2s - Good: good sound quality, sweat-proof warranty/guarantee, excellent battery life. Bad: least comfortable (had to fumble with the fit A LOT, would fall out of my tiny ears), they are not durable (had to replace twice, and 3rd is already giving me trouble), connection drops were most common on these, hefty price tag (although deals are common and these were a gift)
  • Mpow Cheetahs and Swifts - Good: Hardy devices (have not had to replace either, still running strong), budget headphones (I never paid more than $13 for either, brand new), strong Bluetooth connection Bad: Sound quality is noticeably worse (fine for gym, not for home use), volume controls on headphones and device were separate, battery indicator would often lie and they would randomly die on me. **I preferred the Cheetahs to the Swifts purely because the memory wire ran behind your head rather than resting on your neck**
  • Powerbeats2 - Good: Sound quality is robust (best I have heard as far as Bluetooth is concerned), strongest Bluetooth connection, no struggle with fit/comfort, can get serviced at Apple Stores, good build (stylish brand, doesn't feel cheap) Bad: shorter battery life (should be longer with this price), hefty price tag (hardest to find deals, I paid $100), IEMs don't seal like the others (so there is some sound leak)
I tried the LG Tone Ultra HBS800 model a while ago, but ultimately ended up returning them because the phone calls sounded awful and I wasn't a fan of the build/style. The sound quality was fine though, probably a better bang for your buck than the Jaybird X2s or Powerbeats2 if you like the sound.

Hopefully this helps!

IMO we are at least a year off from wireless earbuds that are truly good. When for under $20 you could get better wired earbuds than you can spending over $100 on a wireless pair there's a huge disparity.

For for under $20 I can find wireless headphones that sound better than wired headphones under $20

I agree with you. I would love a pair of really decent sound quality earbuds as I'm with everyone else - would love to lose the wires. However, sound quality is super important to me and I know of no wireless earbuds that will compete with my wired Current ones

Before reading the last few replies, I was going to say that it seems so hard to find good quality earbuds that sound good, fit good and don't fall out all the time. I guess you guys confirmed that.

I might be better off sticking with my JBL wireless speaker. I've been using it for a few years. No complaints about sound. It works great! The main thing that I like earbuds for is phone calls. They allow me to do what I want and talk on the phone without holding it. I started using the Apple earbuds more for that a few months ago then carried over to listening to music. Drawback is the wire gets in the way and now it seems to be damaged from being in my pocket all of the time.

I picked up the LG Tone Ultra's last night. I haven't used them yet but I don't like the way the ear pieces feel. They remind me of earplugs that I use when I goto the racetrack. Definitely don't fit as nice as the Apple earbuds. Are a lot of them like this?

Probably not, none of mine have the same types of earbuds.

The earbuds that I bought last week are going back today. I'm also going to stop by the Apple Store to have my Apple earbuds replaced. The LGs fell out of my ears more than the Apple with the cord attached. The Apple fit very good. It's my fault that I hit the wires once in awhile. I think I'll stick with them and my JBL wireless speaker. Will possible try some of the others mentioned here.

Accidentally hitting shouldn't be at the fault of the user for any headphones as long as it doesn't result in them being yanked/tugged out, imagine if you were trying to use them on a run/walk or at a gym?

Honestly, if those apple earbuds are fitting in your ears and not falling out I would not even bother getting wireless unless the wire is truly an issue for you. For me, wireless was important as it increased my efficiency for everyday tasks, exercising, and work.

Wireless phones are fine. But i would consider Charging headphones, get annoying in the end :/
