hey guys...macpro 10.5.2 ..with airport extreme

same probs

running wireless n @ 5ghz only..anyone know how to change the channel? its stuck on automatic and wont give me the option to change it

pretty frustrating..continues to drop randomly
Here you go:

Once you've selected your router in Airport Utility, click on wireless tab for your router, then Option-click on the channel drop-down menu. When you option-click, a list of 9 router channels appear, from 36 to 161. Select your speed, and hit the update button. I'm currently running on channel 149, and my drops have disappeared, at least for the last 12 hours.

still a good connection for me too.

Dare I say we have finally cracked it!?!

Big bonuses from Apple for all of us this month!

Please clarify - is this change is for your Airport router or the Airport Network Card?

Switching off IP6 on my router (AEBS) as well as the different machines solved the problem for me.

Screen sharing still sucks, tho'.

The airport dropout behavior is weird for me, i had alot of problems with my DLink 512 router at home but since 10.5.2 it's nearly stable and i only get a few rare dropouts from time to time.
But here's the real weird thing, when i'm at a friend of me with my mbp who use the same DLink router with the same latest firmware and a configuration that is mostly like the one on my router.. i get dropouts every minute since 10.5.2 🙁 really strange.

It's for the Airport router (The Airport Utility is a program that allows you to change settings for Apple brand routers). This advice allows you to set the broadcast channel for the router, preventing it from automatically selecting a channel. Your Airport Network card will detect the channel, and communicate with the router on that channel only.

None of these solutions has worked for me. Like many other people here and in the Apple support forums, up until the 10.5.2 update, everything was working perfectly. Now, every so often, I will just lose my connection and only on the 10.5.2 machine. It happens suddenly and randomly, many times I won't even notice it until Safari or Adium or something just tells me that I'm no longer connected to the internet. When that happens, I can see that my airport icon is completely greyed out. When I go to the drop-down menu, airport scans and I can find and select my network to reconnect. Incidentally, I've noticed that whenever I use that drop-down menu, Airport is always furiously scanning for new networks. Anyway, if I don't select manually, airport will eventually reconnect on its own. This happens at least a few times a day. I have the Airport Extreme base station and I have tried every solution suggested here and elsewhere (there are many, many people experiencing this issue apparently), including completely turning off ipv6, changing the channel used, using N only, downgrading my firmware, etc. etc. The crazy thing is that this problem still happens even without a wireless router in the mix, when I'm connected via ethernet directly to my modem, so long as Airport is turned on. So far, the only solution I have found is to connect via ethernet (with or without the router) and leave airport off entirely. This is a reasonable workaround for me since this problem isn't affecting any other wireless device in my house and my mac is close to the router, but I don't see this being a good solution for most.
