"Wireless Sync" isn't really wireless

I have to plug my iPad into the charger to even sync it. How can you call something wireless when you have to be wired to something?

Pluging into power insures that you don't run out of juice while syncing.

Backing up to iCloud and wireless syncing to iTunes are two different things

Yup, my iPad 2 and iPhone 4 are syncing fine and I am running XP on a five year old laptop.

I am not using iCloud at all, nor do I want to at this point.

Wireless Wi-Fi sync working completely fine for me. Can either sync it on my phone through settings or just by hitting sync on my MBA without it being plugged in.

Adding my 2 cents...wifi sync fails for me as well. I'm running Win7 on a MBP 2011 using Parallels 7. All I need is to sync Outlook 2010 with the iPhone...and Apple customer support told me that is not possible. Not with wifi and using iCloud fails to sync Outlook Notes.

So, I guess there's a group of us who are are stuck with using the USB cable. Hopefully, Apply comes up with the fix soon or someone here drops the secret code.

Not sure what your problem is, but all I did with my iPhone 4 was plug it in and click on my device then under the summary pane I scrolled down to options and clicked on "Sync with this phone iPhone over Wi-Fi." Also working with my iPhone 4S
