I played this about a year ago, and quit because I thought combat was too difficult, but am giving it another shot, after slogging though (and enjoying) other games with more complex combat mechanics.

Yet, I am so frustrated right now with a mod, I’ve been trying to install on the Witcher 3 for two days. It’s an auto loot mod that I want because when I’m riding my horse, I don’t want to be getting off to collect plants. Mods are usually pretty simple and this mod damn it, is not cooperating. I’ve tried Vortex, Nexus mod manager, now I’m getting ready to try the Witcher 3 mod manager.

If that does not work, I’ll try the older version:
Anyone have any experience for this example? I’m used to adding mods. Normally it’s just not that complicated, dump it in the mod folder…

I've beaten the game and all the DLCs, and I have to say... not once has getting off the horse to collect plants been necessary or even at all worth it for me. Unless you're really into brewing potions, installing a mod specifically to auto-loot plants while you're riding is probably more trouble than its worth. 😅

Anyway, it's been a while and I don't remember if you can lower the difficulty (I think you can), but the game gets much more enjoyable once you get past the opening area.

I crafted the hell out of Oblivion and Skyrim. :D You know after spending several days trying to get this working, I was actually going to collect plants to brew potions to “honestly” earn XP, I said SCREW IT. Console here I come, full speed ahead! Except I don’t see consol codes for plants. NP the console has other answers. :)

I gave up on the auto loot mod in The Witcher and have started it. I’m a bit embarrassed how easy killing the Noon Wraith (Devil By The Well quest) was, one of the early quests. Last time, about a year ago, I felt it was overly hard and had not ready any guides and without using a trap, which is one of your built in spells, which materializes them so your sword can injure it, it kicked my ass several times. She was and continues to be a horrible apparition. This time, with a trap (spell) and some monster oil on my sword, I made quick work of her. 😊

I’ve set this game aside for the second time. Guess I’m getting finicky.n Not because the games was too hard, I just was not getting immersed. I don’t know why, it’s a well made game. 😳

One of the best games ever, but if you're not feeling the game then no need to force it. RDR2 is another one that requires you to be "in the mood" in my opinion. But it's an RPG, so if you're not feeling the role then it makes sense that you won't connect.

RDR2- played and enjoyed the online version with friends, until it got old, repetitive, and I did not finish the solo story, I think because there were no personal relationships. I acknowledge for this one too, despite being a well made game, I’m finding that social interactions, even as shallow as it is in games, tips the scale for me. Now Cyberpunk 2077 by the same developer, was a home run in this regard as meager as in game relations are. You have dinner at a companions house and play a game with the nephews, you go on a date to visit the old neighborhood. These events are mostly symbolic, but for immersive purposes, they are enough to make me feel like you I’m not a loner in this adventure, especially the “good” ending which is almost amazing. And Fallout 4 I’m fully assimilated, feels like a very comfortable space to adventure in, although I already know all the answers. That’s me, I read Lord of the Rings three times. On my 5th playthough of F4.😁

One of my all time favorite games. Absolutely love it and the DLCs but I thought the boss at the end of the main game was pure misery. I should have just lowered the difficulty for him.
