I had to return my Sony WH1000XM3 as they were useless out in the cold. The touch sensor went all crazy when it was under 6 degrees celsius outside. I'm pretty sure that's not what Apple is referencing here but I sure hope they have this in mind when they developed the AirPods Studio.
Yeah - the touch sensor isn't intuitive at all. Apple's solution with the Digital Crown should certainly be better, than SONY's awkward cupping gesture to hear the surroundings.

I’d be willing to bet it offers more granular control, too. I mean, since it’s all in software, they could let folks pick how incrementally it changes.

I'm not saying that they will release or announce the AirPods Studio today, personally i'm not sure Apple would announce a whole new device without some demo or hyped up stream of some kind.

But on the flip side to that, we now have a few people seemingly confirming that they are at least imminent. Personally i would love them to be announced and released, i have been waiting for over a headphone version of the AirPods for a while. I'm just not getting my hopes up, this late in the year when Apple could of announced them at last months event.

Apparently the whole reason for todays hype, comes from a leaked memo that tells Apple Care providers to expect new product SKU's, product descriptions and pricing. Also the very reliable L0ve to Dream Tweeted about some surprise by Apple. In the last few hours a few reliable people have tweeted about the AirPods Studio.

I guess we will find out in a couple of hours.

Well Dave, I was wrong. The studio headphones obviously launched. You know, I was completely surprised to see that Apple actually released these about two weeks before Christmas. More than anything, the price doesn’t surprise me, (being Apple always charges a higher premium over the competition for most of their products). And even though I know a lot of members are complaining about the design and how ‘bland’ they are, I’m glad they didn’t put some giant ‘Apple logo’ on the muffs. I think in terms of overall aesthetics, I don’t have a problem with them. As far as the technology, it looks promising, but I’m curious to see what the reviews will be long-term for these.

Are you considering a pair yourself? I’m personally a fan of the Sony XM3s and Audio technica.

To be honest I was very reluctant to believe that Apple would release them this late in the year. I was wrong. At the moment people seem to be complaining about the price, however when people hear them I think it may be a different matter. I can see them being a great seller, just like normal AirPods. They are expensive but I have a feeling they will be worth it.

I use my AirPods Pro for running, however I’ve been waiting for these AirPods Max for a while, mainly to use as my at home and traveling pair of over the ear headphones. I have ordered a pair of the blue ones.

I’m expecting them to sound better than my current Surface Headphones 2 (which will be given to my dad). with better noise cancellation as well.

Very good points. Now that the trolls got it out of the system maybe there can be some meaningful discussion about all the amazing tech that is inside these too.

People were making THE EXACT SAME comments about the original airpods in 2016. For the rich, too expensive, whats the point, apple doesnt know what they are doing.....blah blah blah.

The homepod comparisons are only half valid IMO. Apple's mistake was more about marketing than pricing. The homepod mini came out 2 years too late. It should have been within the first year or so to compete much more heavily with the other small smart speakers. Then the regular homepod at 299 for audio enthusiasts . Hell if anything maybe the mini should have come out FIRST, then a "HomePod Pro".
