I had to return my Sony WH1000XM3 as they were useless out in the cold. The touch sensor went all crazy when it was under 6 degrees celsius outside. I'm pretty sure that's not what Apple is referencing here but I sure hope they have this in mind when they developed the AirPods Studio.

The XM3’s are amazing. I live in a state where It can get brutally cold, and I’ve never use them outside in those temperatures, just mainly indoor temperatures. But I can see why the touch sensor would get all wonky, similar to like your finger won’t respond very well to touch ID with cold fingers.

Applecare probably would be a pricey add on for these, but also would likely be a good investment, given the repair cost and the abuse that headphones can take.

I'm not saying that they will release or announce the AirPods Studio today, personally i'm not sure Apple would announce a whole new device without some demo or hyped up stream of some kind.

But on the flip side to that, we now have a few people seemingly confirming that they are at least imminent. Personally i would love them to be announced and released, i have been waiting for over a headphone version of the AirPods for a while. I'm just not getting my hopes up, this late in the year when Apple could of announced them at last months event.

Apparently the whole reason for todays hype, comes from a leaked memo that tells Apple Care providers to expect new product SKU's, product descriptions and pricing. Also the very reliable L0ve to Dream Tweeted about some surprise by Apple. In the last few hours a few reliable people have tweeted about the AirPods Studio.

I guess we will find out in a couple of hours.

Everything is even faster paced now than it was 4 years ago. They could easily build up supply. Announce tomorrow and ship later this week for delivery next week. They do it every year with millions of iPhones.
You’re not getting it. I didn’t mention supply because that is irrelevant.

It is a question of demand. Even if there is a warehouse in China with an infinite number of units - this far into December, kids have already written their letters to Santa, Amazon orders have already been placed, and promotional sales have come and gone. Introducing a brand new product line right now is awkward at best. If fur coats don’t sell well in July (in the northern hemisphere), it’s not because of a lack of supply.

I would love over the head AirPods, I absolutely love my AirPods Pro but I've developed eczema in my ears and ear bud style headphones just aggravates it massively so now unusable for me which is a massive shame.

The AirPods deal with latency via software and it's awesome. I can edit video with them so these will no doubt have the same functionality.
For anything where 20+ nanoseconds of latency is tolerable, Apple just matches the video to the delay they know are coming through the headphones. That’s what happens when you are watching or editing video. However, if you use an iPad as an instrument, such as with GarageBand, the current latency is TOO bad for any live playing via a keyboard or on the iPad’s screen.

There HAVE been times when my headphones have bugged and dropped into “talk” mode, (I beta test). In this mode the data being sent to the headphones is lower quality BUT has far less latency. It’d definitely be good enough of a “workaround” for now, but what folks are looking for is that very low latency/high quality audio.

that mockup is just so bad.

I'm sorry to the artist for saying these harsh words. I'm sure you were given the details and had to come up with the look as best as you could, but it's just a typical 90's headphone look and I'd be very surprised if Apple released something that looked like this.
Yup time for people to criticize something they haven’t seen, then the cheapos come out and say that’s it’s way too expensive, like they know how much it should be.
It is comical

Obviously adult shopping lists are a thing, too.

You’re latching on to the cutesy way I might’ve stated my point, but Apple still doesn’t release items like you’re suggesting as a last-minute afterthought.

im sure you have vast more marketing experience than apple.

maybe you should apply there. im sure you could double their 1 trillion dollars with your great idea's.

maybe make a adult wish list app.

To paraphrase Bob, you don’t have to be a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.

Well for now the focus is on mock-ups we can indeed see.

Oh man I was just thinking this morning I can’t wait for these to be out in spring. If they come out tomorrow il be buzzing!

Say you had a product you’d designed and developed for a release in November (to target Xmas shopping) but a last minute delay complication meant it wasn’t ready. Would the better business decision be to release it a bit later than normal in the shopping season (and still capture some sales) or sit on it, incurring the costs of holding stock to release either in early Q1 (not a great time for consumer spending) or sit on it even longer (incurring even more costs and risking a competitor release a similar product in the mean time)?

maybe they can fix the BT issues on the 1st gen Airpods before they release this?

Really hoping for the AirPods Stuido or something cool. An updated 16” MacBook Pro with intel would t be my idea of a Christmas surprise.

It’s worth noting that a boot camp update referred to a MacBook Pro 16” (2020) so perhaps that’s what we will be seeing. It seems strange to release a new product like AirPods Studio this close to the holidays but I could be wrong. 🤷‍♂️
