imagine millions and millions of people around the globe (its a worldwide pre orders for all countries, same time) with this pre order of the iPhone X

- you need your pre order in, within 1.5 seconds...otherwise shipping times somewhere january/february
- how can the Apple website and the Apple Store App handle millions and millions of customers at exact the SAME time?

All the orders are secretly funneled through Amazon.com, so that Apple can handle the load.

That can lead to lower sales.

Impatient consumers may buy the 8 immediately and upgrade to the X later. Allowing early pre-orders will diminish the demand for the 8.

I doubt that. That would be a heck of a loss, because you aren't getting close to retail for a used 8 and you would be out of the 14 day window. I don't think many people are that desperate.

Considering how some of these people sound like junkies, you'd be surprised.

iPhone 8 customers can always upgrade to iPhone X. The reverse almost never happens.

These upgrades don't need to happen immediately or within a short period of time. Customers can be persuaded to upgrade in early or mid-2018. Apple still wins because a customer has purchased two iPhones.

Allowing early iPhone X pre-orders negatively affects iPhone 8 sales. Once a customer has decided and has the ability to pre-order an X, they are not considering an 8.

Not to be negative, I just don't know. I don't feel great about it.

I really do fear about the supply. The traffic on the site will be insane come Oct 27. Few will get pages to actually load and checkout for that Nov 3 shipment, but I honestly picture many many more will see "End of Nov." "Mid Dec"...heck "Early Jan" by 12:05am PT . 3:05am ET

Lets hope not. I just wonder how much stock carriers will get.

Your predictions aren't negative, they're realistic.

If Apple's current production rate is 10k units per day as suggested by Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple could double their rate of production every 10 days and they still won't have more than a few million ready for launch.

Carrier stores? Ugh, like last years Jet Black model, my thinking is zero. I suspect extreme limited supplies at the largest US Apple Stores (5th Ave NYC, San Fran, Boston..maybe a few more) And I expect people will be camped out for a few days at these locations. Getting in line at 4, 5am would not guarantee you getting the X that Nov 3rd morning.

Screen isn't curved at all on the X right? No TouchID embedded in the screen right?

So why are they having difficulties manufacturing this thing?

They're packing a lot more tech into a smaller space (FaceID components, dual OIS cameras) and a sole supplier for the OLED panels: Samsung.

I'm wondering which model to order concerning the delivery date.
I don't mind the color or the capacity. With a case the color doesn't matter and I could live with 64GB, but would choose 256GB if the availability is better. What do you think? Was the space grey option always the prefered one?

I hope so , but I doubt it. Think of iPhone X + the Nov 3rd ship date like when they added a 2nd weekend for Coachella... still isn't enough capacity

What inconvenience, really? It's not like they promised it any earlier. People being disappointed because they assumed an earlier release is neither an inconvenience or Apple's fault.

I don't think it's an inconvenience as much as it is a disappointment for some. The iPhone 8 pre-order start on the 15th of this week, and I think the Nostalgia would be the same if the iPhone X was able to be pre-ordered on the same day. Six weeks is a long time away to order the iPhone X, and I think a lot of consumers wanted to to pre-order something new and exciting much sooner. It's Not so much an inconvenience, where impatience is the biggest factor.
