No I won't, it's still a pain in the *ss to watch ATV+ in my Oled TV. Still no native app, no chromecast support. I'm fed up with this situation only happening with this service. And no, I won't buy another external device just to watch these shows while other platforms offer a native app. Connecting my mac to the TV every single time I want to watch ATV+ is annoying.
So it your TV manufactures fault that there is no app. My TV has the app that allows me to watch easily

@Actarus

Blame your TV manufacturer, not Apple. They didn't come up with the interface on the TV or the OS behind it. If it's incompatible, that's on the manufacturer, not Apple.

And this is precisely why streaming boxes run circles around smart TVs in terms of compatibility and reliability. TV manufacturers are only about selling you a new TV every year. People have bought new TVs purely because model X has a particular app that model Y does not. A streaming box is a 1000 times cheaper and lasts a hell of a lot longer.

The streaming wars are heating up... those TVs aren't going to offer you every one of the contenders, absolutely 100% sure of that.

Nope, it's Apple fault since:

1st: It's and Android TV and Apple didn't upload an Android app to the Play Store.
2nd: The lack of chromecast support is on the ATV+ app side, note the TV that supports it.

Every single streaming app (Netflix, HBO...) supports a wide range of devices and even chromecast, but Apple. Strange move that doesn't help consolidating the service, Are they trying to force customers to buy Apple TV's?. IF so, I'm afraid it's not working. They're just giving now free months to try not to loose customers, but this can't be done forever and ever.

You know you can watch TV+ directly on your Mac, right?

I got the free year with my M1 Mac in November, so I'm still quite new to the service but I love it. Watched See, For All Mankind, Dickinson, Mythic Quest, Ted Lasso and loved each of those. I can't wait for Foundation. I think ATV+ is a keeper, I think I will just get the Apple One Bundle as soon as my free year ends.

I received an extension email this morning extended it to July. Hooray.
That's great. But having had the service for just over a year and mine having been extended until July, I have seen all I consider worth watching, so it's a pointless extending the free period when they will be unable to make anything new.

New stuff is coming though.
For all mankind season 2 starts in February
New movies and shows are also coming.

OK if that is indeed the case. How did they make these programs during a pandemic? I hope all the actors aren’t rustling around covered in cling film!😎

You don't mention any sources that state that nothing is in production and will be released prior to July. Here's Apple TV's Twitter post about season 2 of Ted Lasso going into production. I'm thrilled!

They just remove the masks via cgi ;)

Season 2 of Dickinson and Servant started this month already.

I guess they had the filming done already or are doing them with tests all the time.

They need to release an App for Android TV. I do have a Xbox One and Apple TV but I prefer to watch straight from my TV interface with 4K and Dolby Vision support. Since this is my main device to watch, I always forget / too lazy to use the other 2 devices just to play TV+. Also I would wait for the 2nd seasons of The Morning Show and Ted Lasso to be available before I subscribe again. Cant deal with that weekly BS anymore haha

Not sure Apple needs to do anything. Not sure ATV+ is anything more than a loss-leader for the Apple ecosystem at this point... been very slow to roll programming out, even before the pandemic... time will tell.

You're right, that's the point, even Disney+ was born with all kind of devices and platforms support.

Mine is still showing a renewal date of 26th Feb, assuming that this doesn't get extended, I will be cancelling before this date. I've thoroughly enjoyed the original content on AppleTV+ and have watched most of the things on there but I see no reason to renew at this time until the second seasons of stuff are available or more content comes on board. It's a bit silly to be paying a fiver a month at this time when there's nothing new for me. Maybe later in the year, I will change my mind.

They don't have an App for Android TVs yet?
The support document states there are apps for Samsung TVs, those are Android, aren't they?

Apple Support Document:
Not all Samsung Smart TVs are Android-based. I have one that is not. I could put the ATV app on it, but I have an Apple TV.

Edit: I don't actually know anything about Android TVs, but before buying the Samsung (which I made sure was not Android-based), I had tried a TCL which was.
