For me, bringing my iPad out and about, taking it out my bag and realising that I couldn't get online with it a lot of the time ruined the tablet experience.

Yep, agreed. A lot of apps use the GPS chip for location-based features, which is cool. I had a wifi iPad 1, too, and felt neutered. Ended up getting a 3G iPad 1 and then a 3G iPad 2 when it came out.

I have an iphone 4, ipad 2, and used to have a MBA. I found the Air to be the one I didn't use. the tablet form factor is just much more useful, unless what you're doing is primarily keyboard driven.

Don't get me wrong, I do like my iPad 2 Wifi 32gb a lot, but since I got my 2011 MacBook Air 11" a month ago, I find myself needing/using the iPad 2 less and less. I also have an iPhone 4 (with an iPhone 4S 64gb delivering on Friday) and was thinking...do I really need all 3 of these?

Same situation. I had the original iPad and sold it when I got my 11" Macbook Air. However, I missed it so I bought the iPad 2.

It's not a necessity if you've got the iPhone and MBA but it still has its uses. I alternate between the two at the minute but loving the iPad after installing IOS5 on there.

Or with your iPhone and iPad do you need your MacBook air anymore...clearly just by the title you have made your mind up.
