yeah no surprise. Every company copies the leading company. It's just normal.

A more unified "standard" Android phone could mean more timely updates too. This isn't just about the phones all looking the same, or helping brand and market Android. It can go a long way in making the actual overall experience better.

It'll be interesting to see how the actual release unfolds, and whether bloatware will be kept in check too. That would be monumental.

Timely updates has nothing to do with a unified phone, which by the way is not the case, "yet". U.S. version of the S3 has a different CPU. And of course, every carrier has to ensure their crapware works with the Samsung UI, meaning different release dates for OS updates, depending on how fast the carrier puts it out. But I agree with you, if it does happen, the experience with Samsung will become much better.

Now if Samsung really does become as powerful as Apple in their relationships with carriers, then we may see a one world near simultaneous release via Samsung. That may happen sooner rather than later by the looks of it. Google "Samsung Tizen"

Wasn't not until the 4S that all Apple phones were the same? A CDMA 4 couldn't be used on a GSM network. The reason my employer gave me a 4S was for international use.
