apple has done some creative things with their power circuitry with these newer devices. These types of things are for the best. When you think about it... a single tiny static shock from your finger can potentially render a digital device inoperable.... do you really trust a 3rd party charger?

First party accessories always cost more.

Hell, Samsung charges $20 for their micro-USB cable.

The difference is that if you want the Made For iPhone logo, you have to pay a little more.

You can get excellent quality 3rd party Lightning Cables for $10-$12 that are certified. It's not as good as $2, but it's better than $20.

Hey I don't mind 3rd party wires as long as they don't become useless with the next iOS update.
I'm sure samsung users don't have to worry about things like that though. They can buy eBay micro USB wires for dirt cheap.
Wonder if you can share the $10-12 certified lightning wires. I need to pick up a few up.
Thank you.

My memory must be shot. I could have sworn the amazon cables were $12.

Yes, but that's also $19:(
And unfortunately I don't have any cheap microusb wires or charges around.
All my family and close friends use iphones.

Cables I couldn't give two craps about, but chargers - I would never use a generic charger, not would I let anybody in my household/family use them.

I'd rather pay more for official chargers (or at the very least, ones from known brands) given that I can trust the QC they go through.
