I was playing some music on my MBP just now after installing updates and the next thing I know my screen scrambled!!! I re-started and it was fixed. Is this just a one time thing or should I go back to Apple before it's too late? I don't want to deal with them since I already had a few bad experiences with them. My MBP is still within warranty, but it will end in August if I don't get Applecare and right now I don't have money for it. I'm scared.

Same.

Having it getting checked out. Though, it seems Apple is a bit baffled atm on this one. AppleCare is looking more tempting.....

sigh.

I would guess this is a 10.5.3 thing well at least this started happening when I updated to it. Now I hate software updates if that's the real issue behind it.

So I just tried resetting the SMC and I will check to see if this would somehow fix things... hopefully.

This has happened to me twice but only while Parallels was running and waking from sleep. Have you tried laying low on Parallels lately or at least updating it to the latest version?

I have not experienced it for a while, although I haven't used Parallels as well.

hahaha ive had this and a bit more weird a few times! Ive had the screen messed up like this:

i like the funky colours it made :p
what i also found weird was i could still click on things and the screen pixels would change. in the video you can see the photoshop toolbar.

ive got a santa rose MBP and im running 10.5.2

Has anyone had anything done about this? What conclusion became of this? I woek my computer from sleep and it did a wierd thing then came up with the whole fuzzy checkerboard screen. Just curious if I should bring it in or what?

I did an SMC reset, June 17th. It's been 13 days and I have not experienced anything like it anymore. I will give it one more month. If it happens again, then I guess I would have to bring it in.

Wow, this just happened to me and its only day 7 since I bought my MBP. Its a 2.4 15" MPB that I updated to 10.5.4 last night. I hope this doesn't happen again...

Yeah, I had the same thing happen to me on day 8 or 9. It hasn't done it since then, but it was really scary at the time.

It's July 28th and I have not experienced anything like the screen disaster anymore. I would guess the SMC reset did help... Except that I have experienced the dreaded vertical stripes issue recently (happened more than 3 times). Off to the service center this thing should go once I have freetime.
