How has it come to this..?
20 years ago, these incredibly morbidly-obese types were not around. Now there are super-morbidly obese children as well as adults.
If you're an average height man-- even at 6', and not an athlete, shouldn't you be somewhat concerned when you're over 300 pounds? So to reach 400, 500 pounds, and more...? And to be rendered so heavy they're immobile? I watched "Biggest Loser" once, and one of the contestants was shown in her home community, and all around her were overweight people; men, women, children. They weren't hugely obese-- but they were all overweight, to some capacity. That's chilling to me. And I don't mean that at all in a superficial manner, but just health-wise. It's beyond an epidemic when people have to reach 400-500 pounds and can't even stand up before they realize they may have a weight issue and that they need to lose weight.
I don't expect all women to be 5'11 and a size 2, or all men to be 6'1" and cut, but it's profoundly disturbing to see people so grossly overweight, negligent or ignorant of their health issues. These people are bigger than Jabba the Hutt. And to celebrate it? Oh jeez...
