You and I watch just TOO much CSI... :D
Actually, I am one of those few people who don't watch CSI... I've known about mitochondrial DNA and other genetics-type information for a LONG time.

And I've been an admirer of Emily Procter's since she was on The West Wing. Definitely got a thing for cute Southern girls with cute Southern accents. :)

Isn't the cute blond one in CSI Miami?
Yup. The original CSI has Jorja Fox, who is also cute and who's only two days younger than me. (You can see that I also have a thing for gorgeous women in their mid-30s...)

It's amazing how the media just jumped on this story originally, isn't it? Of course, it seems they love stories that would be negative to big, evil corporations like Wendy's. Apparently, they love said stories so much that they don't wait for any sort of investigation, or do any investigating themselves. Let's just assume she's not a total kook and run with the story. What could possibly go wrong?

I will give them credit though. I'm glad that they're still following it now that it seems to be a fraud. Of course, they're probably just doing that to save face.

Grr...Strike two for me!

You're right, she's the one in Miami. For those who don't know who we're talking about, here's a pic.

CAM, of course the media will a big fuss about it. It's a FINGER in a chili bowl! And also, it's not the first time Anna Ayala tried to sue a major fast food chain!!

I hope Wendy's sues this woman for every dime she has (for the lost sales).

(I believe they can sue if they can prove she made the story up and they can show a direct link between the store and lost sales because of the story).

McDonalds promotion

Due to all the Wendys press lately McDonalds marketing team has come up with a new promotion:
"McDonalds, you've been fingered" to introduce their very own Hot Chili. One in every 1,000 Chili combos will have a fresh finger at the bottom and the lucky ones will recieve an iTunes gift certificate on the counter. They get to keep the finger also, if they didn't previously (and hopefuly accidentaly) ate it...

if she did fake it, i hope they nail her :) let's see if prison chili cares if they hve fingers in it :) for once maybe it will contain real meat.
Technically, a human finger IS real meat.

And I guess it would taste like chicken, just like babies taste of chicken... cannibals tell us that human flesh tastes of chicken, so babies taste of chicken... and chicken tastes of babies. <pause> OK, glad you're coming with me on that one. (For 10 points, name the comedian who said this.)

Just do a DNA test on the finger, do a DNA test on that cougar lady (no, I mean the animal refuge lady, not some old lady who picks up 20 year olds at clubs ;) ), and see if there's a link. Hell, dig up the body of the dead aunt for all I care. She brought this investigation onto herself.

The police have so many ways of proving that this story is bull**** that they have probably had the evidence to prove that she's lying for quite some time. They've just been sitting on it to see how to proceed next.

Free Jr. Frosties!

To celebrate the arrest of Ms. Ayala! Just kidding. :D

Wendy's is giving away free Jr. Frosties at all their Bay Area Wendy's locations and Sacramento this weekend. They say business has been down 30-50% since the incident and this is a way to thank those who have continued dining with them.

So, now Ms. Ayala has been ARRESTED for some unknown reason. This just keeps getting better and better. :D
Hopefully, if she is involved, they'll announce the charges later today. People who try to bilk the system really tick me off

But this is totally bizarre, since she hadn't planned on getting money from Wendy's in the first place...

She hadn't filed for money yet, she did hire a lawyer who dropped out about the time the whole thing went south.

Considering she made the statement "She wouldn't sue" about the time it looked like she was the target -- doesn't mean she didn't have a profit motive.

Yeah, I believe that her intent was to sue the bejeezus out of Wendy's for "emotional trauma"... when Wendy's actually started fighting back (investigating the source of the finger, etc.), she announced she wouldn't be suing in an effort to get them to back off. They didn't bite (ha ha).

Criminal charges may be the least of her worries if Wendy's sues her for lost sales that can be attributed to her making false claims. I'd guess that's a pretty large number and it'll be a whole hell of a lot harder for her to declare bankruptcy by then

Ah...wow, talk about stupid

And is there any evidence at all? Like the finger in question?

Oh yeah, they have the finger, and have been looking into a number of leads (prompted, no doubt, by Wendy's current offer of $100,000 for any tip leading to the identity of the finger's original owner).

This woman has a litigious past, so there's not much question in my mind that even if she didn't plant the finger, she had $$ in her head from the moment it happened.

But I think she planted it - it's just too bizarre - and hoped Wendy's would roll over and pay her to shut up.
