I think I can see what the problem is and I don't see it mentioned above.
The screenshot shows the file system as ExFAT and the file format as NTFS
The iPad can't read NTFS- Macs can
But that's confusing for the ipad anyway. To the iPad it will look corrupted.
I've never seen this before so I don't know how to fix it except to reformat.
Was it used on a Windows machine at work for instance?
Maybe on a machine that can read it you can change the file formats?
Someone else can probably jump in with some better ideas.

The iPad can absolutely read NTFS. It just can't write to it.

Back when there were corruption issues with FAT/exFAT, I used NTFS on my 512GB-1TB flash drives for reading very large files from Windows to iPad.

The SD card is from my camera and was formatted in the camera. I'll reformat it with my MacBook and see if the iPad can then read it.
