Something for you to clutch at:

I've been lucky enough to find a knowledgeable O2 customer services person. I asked another rep to email him and ask him to call me, and I've just come off the phone.

He told me that the customer services reps who said my order was "out of stock" have not been given the right information, and that they should have referred the query to the "iphone department", or someone who's been dealing with iPhones.

It's probably ********, but this guy said he "can guarantee" I will have my iPhone on Friday and will phone me on Friday morning to double-check. New customer, ordered 16GB at 8.10-8.15 on Monday, and the order was successful. That's good enough for me and if it doesn't arrive on Friday, so be it!

Hope this offers something for those early birds to cling on to...!

I have got 2 e-mails from o2 confirming that mine will be shipped 16gb, upgrader and I think I got through at 2pm. I had to go to hospital as I had fractured my shoulder and thought I had lost out!

It seems to be that most people who got through to the failover page are in luck

Problem though - they have used my billing address and not shipping please everyone check yours!

O2 customer services said because of the change I might have to wait until Monday, if that happens I am going to kick up a real fuss as my company is one of DHL's largest contracts in the UK so hopefully I will be able to swing a sameday change if I ahem, drop someone a line ;)

Good luck! At least the O2 shop is near Starbucks/Nero/Costa so you can get coffee while you wait! (That is if you are planning on waiting at the one in town).

Im not gonna say which one im goin to but its probs not gonna be the ones in Princes Street!

I phoned my local one and the guy said they have been inundated but thinks the early queuers will have a really good chance!

Really seems like no one at O2 customer services or iPhone department for that matter have a clue what's going on. I've had 3 or 4 conflicting messages this afternoon. The latest is I've been told I won't likely get one on Friday (new customer, 8Gb, 8:07) but to be honest I think they just don't know what's going on. Fingers crossed everyone! Oh, and 'first come, first served' - I think not.

16gb!!!

I tried all morning on monday - I finally manage to get a "thank you...blah blah blah.." just before 1pm.... I heard nothing from O2 so I sent a firm email to the complaints dept at O2 saying I wasn't going to renew my contract. About half an hour after that... "coincidently" I received this

They might have just sent you that to keep you on O2 for a few more weeks until you actually get your iphone.

No - I've checked with DHL and it's on it's way. Delivery tomorrow.
Let's see!!!

Hi I ordered my 3g iphone 8gb at 08:16 order process was no problem went through first time. My status is still in progress but 02 customer services confirmed that I am getting one and I've had three emails telling me the phone is in the warehouse waiting to be processed.

I might not get it tomorrow because I live in Scotland but at least I'm getting one. I also got £35 cash back for buying one so am really happy.

Sorry for everyone who had problems ordering. Its crazy we can get people to the moon but we cant get iphones out to everyone who wants one. You will get one in the end though.

I phoned DHL as well.

They said that these phones are sent out with afternoon/evening delivery times normally.

Which if you ask me is annoying. Yes we will get them tommorrow but it will be delivered up to 9pm I was informed!
