had a battery issue with the new iPad Pro 2020 11 inch.
Apple support said send it in for replacement. Great. Had iPad shipped to them was alarmed to get an email saying they had found a hardware problem to pay or get broke iPad back.

Now I’m concerned so called straightaway.
Apparently my 2 week well looked after iPad was bent.
They sent me photos and honestly I would never have noticed having unboxed and placed it straight in a case.

In the 3 hour phone call they agreed to waive all fees which is a huge relief but CHECK THOSE SHINY NEW IPADS AS SOON AS YOU OPEN!!

I’ve included the bend pics

Wish I was kidding! Was stressing throughout the 3 hour call I couldn’t believe they were asking me to pay!
They said it could have came out of box like that or I could have caused it but bending isn’t covered by their warranty regardless!

The support guy played the hero and said he was gonna take full responsibility for it

They’ve sent me a replacement.
To be honest I think it took them 3 hours between themselves to see how ridiculous it was trying to squeeze money out of me for a bend that personally I can’t even see considering they sent me a battery faulty iPad!

Looks bent to me. Hold something straight (like a credit card) against the picture, and you'll see it. The whole iPad appears to bend "out" to the left of the picture.

Another one of these threads where the bending is impossible to find? Where is the bend?

Unbelievable, would love to see the chat transcript. Or was it all on the phone? (If so, wow, sorry)

The right edge (back of iPad) on the photo is perfectly straight. The left edge (front of iPad) has a curve on the corner (opposite the camera bump). But with the back of the iPad being perfectly straight it is pretty clear to me that this is 1. A manufacturing defect and the glass was never properly seated. Or 2. The service tech was not able to correctly reinstall the glass after replacing the battery.

Either way, entirely Apple’s fault and you deserved to have the repair covered free of charge. Was this an third-party service center?
