You thought wrong. The sound of "hmm" is more inquisitive in verbal use, and usually means that the person didn't hear or understand what you were saying, especially if they stress the ending 'm'. If they stress more of the beginning 'hm', that's just more of an internal thought to them verbalized.

Still the sound you are talking about is mmhmm not mhm

Edit: I'm sure text shorthand would make it mhm along with ur though haha

Yeah really freaking annoying.

Or how it physically will not let you type Yo or alot.

iOS 5 actually fixes ALOT of these problems, I've noticed. Especially with the ability to add words to the dictionary.

A lot. It's two words; real words not slang. Always. No exceptions.

I haven't seen it mentioned in this thread, but you can easily fix an autocorrect before sending messages. Just double tap the word, it will get highlighted an bring up a menu. Hit replace and your original word and other suggestions will be there :) this is in 4.3

I only see the suggestion(s).

I know what hmm means. It's common to see it written.

I know the sound of what you're calling mhm, but writing it like that is not it.

Try typing, "The market white walls" without the iPhone capitalising EVERY SINGLE LETTER! ARRGGGHHHHHHHH

Isa = ISA

My girl's name is Isabelle and we call her Isa through text to save time. This gets really friggin annoying.

Really, if you read damnautocorrect you begin to question what is Apple's insistence on forcing you to use 'dildo', 80% of the pictures there are about that. Seems like autocorrect will change just about any word into dildo. lol.

Strange, it works for me every time. I purposely make a mistake, let auto correct fix it, then type another word, and it always gives me a what wrong word I typed and other suggestions. Also if autocorrect has "fixed" something and you only hit the space bar without typing anything else, hit the backspace key and it will show your original word.
